Where Cenedril came from is not even quite known to herself.
Ages after she had found herself walking underneath the redwood trees of Arvarinar, she would ask Neldarvan to explain her experiences to her. He had no answer, and weeks later, he only had an idea: that there might be a chance she was a sprite, a sylph, a fae or an elf in a dragon's body. But he was not sure, even though he knew of the strange arts and crafts some in the Tangled Wood practiced, and clearly that was where Cenedril originated. Cenedril was disappointed, but she was glad as well that, though she had no home when she first opened her eyes, she had found one. For that was the first thing she remembered: opening her eyes in the forests of Arvarinar. She was fully grown then already, and she felt naked and vulnerable. The light colour of her scales made it difficult for her to hide within the underwood, so she fled like a startled deer whenever some other dragon approached. But when another dragon, quite like herself in shape and colour, approached her one day, she was frozen. She could not move anymore, and when this dragon spoke to her in a melodious voice, she listened intently, yet did not understand a word. She only understood that she had fallen in love right then, with the shining light in this dragon's eyes, and the soft white fur that grew on his body and all six of tails he possessed. She did not know what to do when he moved his claws, so he mimicked it in hopes it would have been the right thing to do, and the other dragon smiled and named her "Cenedril". That was the first thing she understood - a name, and it was to be hers. The two got closer to each other, and without meaning to, Cenedril showed this dragon the only dream that she found among her memories. And they stayed in her world of dreams, watching birds and swaying in the wind. |

And they would stay there for ages. In their dream,
Celevon taught Cenedril to speak, and that everything had a name given to it. She learned this language he communicated in, and soon was able to speak like it as well. Celevon taught her of the world he lived in, of the island and its wonders, of those various beings who live there and whom Celevon considers to be his friends. And Cenedril listened intently, soaking up every new piece of knowledge she could. Finally, they decided it was time to return. And when they did, the world had changed. Celevon took Cenedril to see some of those friends, but many had left. Some had remained, and they told them about what had happened: horrible destruction had seized the temple, and reconstruction was going slow. Celevon decided that they would need to rebuild immediately, and aimed his strength towards restoring the place to its former glory. Cenedril felt lost in this new world at first, but she adjusted. She was to be the wife of this priest who had remained, and she was happy when they found the time to build a nest. Their daughter was born soon after, possessing qualities of both her father and her mother: she inherited the vulpine nature of her father, and yet there is that within her which reminds all of her mother, who might be elven, or sylphen, or something else entirely. Cenedril was happy with her, and she still is, teaching her to be kind and filled with hopes and dreams. They had another daughter as well, but she was abducted by a bloodthirsty clan from the Shifting Expanse before they could name her, and sacrificed to their deity without honour or mercy. Nowadays, Cenedril uses one of the gifts she was given - her beautiful voice - to entertain the other members of the Sages. They enjoy it greatly, and Cenedril enjoys singing of what might have been home for her once. She does not know, but whatever the case, it must have been a beautiful realm. Yet still, she enjoys this new home she found. Together with Celevon, she lives close to the redwood shrine, but great festivities where a singer is needed often call for her to come to another place on the secluded island. |
