Wondrous Wandering
He could not remember even his first steps. He even could not remember how he became the child of the Gladekeeper, or was he fused with her energies from the beginning? His kin was supposed to serve Tidelord's binding, but OakWarden's heart murmured for the trees and the land, not for the endless waves pf the sea. He even didn't have a name at that time, his name wa earned later, when everybody thought he found his charge. But protecting the Thousand Years Old Oak was only an excuse for him, a substitute, because for a long time, he could not find his purpose in life. Every one of his kin, even his name 'Guardian' suggested, that they have a place in the world. A work, for he was born. But he could not find it. He searched, wandering across Sornieth, learning, fighting and trying everithing he could, but his heart remained silent, his mind could not settle for peace. When he layed under the Thousand Years Old Oak, he made a decision. He settled under the tree, making it his home, giving up the search and hopeing that his Charge will find him instead. The denisens of the nearby areas began calling him the Warden of the Oak, and he accepted the name wich was given.
OakWarden has been finally born.
 What you don't chase, you will catch He was starring with awe at the eggs, seeing how they are absorbing Mother's essence, forming they shells and sprouting the little leaflets. He have witnessed other's nesting, but he never tried himself. He never thought to have children, it seemed only a distant possibility for him to have eggs. But she came, this girl, named Strelitzia. An annoying, demanding girl who mocked him, and tried everything to chase him away from his den. But her attitude changed one day, she was still demanding and hot-headed, but... she nuzzled him and tried to be kind. OakWarden struggled hard to solve the puzzle, what the girl meant for him, but after a while she became very clear of her intensions. - I want a nest. Build one for us. - She poked his neck to wake him up. - What? - He asked blinking with surprise. - You want children? With me? - Yes. - Strelitzia nodded and smiled. - Why? - He asked back still not understanding her demand. - Because I want. - She always did this, if she wanted something, she got it. - Very well. - He sighed - I will build one. - Why not? He was never agaist younglings, he just never brought himeself to do it. The eggs began to wiggling. The time has come, and they began to hatch. OakWarden felt something strange, his stomach was filled with butterflies, his scales shaked. It was like before his first battle, but stronger this time. When the first crack appeared, he felt his mind to settle down, his heart filled with joy. He found it! After this long, he have found his Charge. Unbelievably, the only thing he never tried... to have a family. Now he has one, small feets to protect, small mouths to feed. - Aww what lovely girls... - the mother sniffed the two first little hatchlings proudly. - Oh. And a boy. - She added with a little hint of disappointment in her voice. - They seem strong and healthy. - His eyes was filled with warmth and love. - You... you remind me of the sun, waking up at dawn. I will name you after it. Dawn. - He nuzzled the little sunshine girl. - And you... are sculpted like the endless sea, a beautiful blue hue... Your name will be Sea. - He continued with the girl clinging on his beard. - Your azure-y wings like a hummingbird's my boy. Do you like the name Thorntail? - He laughed at the chirping boy, who already tried to use his wings. - Come on little Wardens, let's see our domain. - She called the hatchling to her. - Wardens? - He looked up surprised. - We are a family now, not? We need a name. Wardens sounds good. - She smiled. - No, not you little boy, just stay with your father. The girls only. - She snorked at the child. The little Thorntail sat down sadly, looking after his siblings and mother. - Don't worry my son. We will have just as much fun. - He poked the hatchling. |
