When she found her way to Ash Haven with her mother, Skip was only just a hatchling. She remembers the softness of her mother's fur, and the troubled look in her otherwise reassuring green eyes, but beyond that, everything is a bit too distant. Just after they'd been welcomed and settled into a comfy den, Mosspelt left her daughter in Ash Haven with a token of her love, and snuck off in the night. For weeks, Talek kept in contact with a search party who scoured the settlements nearby for signs of the pale-green tundra, to no avail. Weeks turned to months, and the settlement's various dragons quickly stepped in to parent the small, orphaned tundra in her mother's stead. It was nearly a year before any dragon realized that the token which Skip wore around her neck was actually enchanted, when it, quite suddenly, began bursting with power. Something had changed, and it drew much attention from the settlement's mages. Upon closer inspection, it was quite obvious that it was a protection spell unlike any other, and had clearly been crafted with her mother's unending love.

With this latest update to the otherwise quiet situation regarding the orphan, Talek sent out a new search party, as the whereabouts of Mosspelt were still unknown. Dragons were sent further than ever before- as far north as the Sunbeam Ruins this time- and it was there they were finally able to piece together her mother's tragic tale: Mosspelt had been slain by the power-hungry beast once known as Slick, Skip's father.

Unfortunately, it was too late, and Mosspelt's resting place was cautiously revealed to the search party, who knew they could not provide this information to such a young dragon upon their return. Talek would recount the details to her much later in her life, causing her to lash out, and become a moody, rebellious teen.

It is during this phase that she decides to change her looks, aiming for the slinky looks of a coatl, over the fluffy coat of her tundra parents. Unfortunately, she cannot afford the seamless magic of the local, high-priced enchantress, and so chooses a low-cost, back-alley merchant who sells her a questionable potion that leaves her with some of her tundra traits. Despite her imperfections, she eventually settles down with a guardsman named Oceanwing, who helps her learn to love herself and slowly tackle the loss of her family.
