Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this voracious zombie wandered a little too far from his home lair (Volrin, #261879), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to his home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful!

History:

A tiny-but-vicious flesh-eater, Cerebrum is the same dusty pink as the brains he starves for. He becomes less coherent the more he feeds, but the desire for fresh meat becomes absolutely painful to him whenever he staves from it for too long. He's completely surrendered his sanity to the hunger at this point, out of emotional weakness and a profound lack of self-control due to his disease. Cerebrum spends his days fluttering shakily through the Abiding Boneyard, leaving nothing but stripped skeletons in his wake.

He was once a completely normal, sea-blue Fae named Saltwater, and at the time he was an Arcane scholar intent on travelling to and further educating himself on the daily lives of foreign clans, throughout all eleven elemental domains. The cannibalism first began during his visit to the Scarred Wasteland, when a shambling Mirror caught him by surprise and chomped into his spine; he was soon corrupted by a strange strain of contagion his attacker was carrying, and the irresistible cravings for meat set in.

After he finally gave in and brought down his first meal, the physical transformation sprung on him almost instantaneously: he became impossibly powerful, able to bring down even the mightiest Imperial if he grew hungry enough. His eyes became a sickly green unlike that of any of the known flights, though they do sometimes flash back to magenta when he uses his Arcane magic or during brief moments of clarity. Lastly, the gorgeous blue and green hues on his body were drained away, replaced with a drab, fleshy pink; the bluish-gray highlights on his wings are all that remains of his original palette.

Travel Log:

Volrin
"S-starfall... Celebration...?" Cerebrum mumbled feverishly, tracing the words on the parchment with a shaky claw. He had just finished his most recent kill; a magenta-eyed Spiral, carrying bundles of books and scrolls engraved with the Arcane symbol in an overfilled backpack. He was feeling somewhat like himself again, and with his curiosity peaked, had decided to take a glance through the deceased dragon's papers.

The Starfall Celebration... that name resonated with him, drawing up foggy memories of the delightful Arcane festivities, stargazing with his family and friends, and the magic shows that entertained them all during those ceremonies. His sluggish heart felt warmed remembering his life outside of the Boneyard, and suddenly, he felt compelled to make the trip back home and try to recapture that innocent joy. Surely none of them would recognize him by now, though; in fact, they'd certainly be terrified of him once they laid eyes on his bony limbs and razor teeth. The bloody markings on his face and claws... there's no way he could face them like this.

Still, while he couldn't return to his family, there was nothing stopping him from going back to the Starfall Isles and enjoying the festivities for himself, was there? The clarity he regained from his last meal should be enough to keep him sane for a few weeks: long enough to last him through the festival, and then for him to stumble his way back to this festering wasteland. Yeah, some time back at home sounded very nice.... his mind made up, Cerebrum started on his long venture out of the skeletal maze and towards his Arcane home.

Tymbs
On his way to the Starfall Isles, he ended up terribly lost and trecked backwards through the Tangled Wood and into the Viridian Labyrinth. It didn't take him long to get caught up in the sounds of the forest that he didn't even notice the giant dragon behind him. He took a look at the dragon behind him, rubbed his eyes and looked again. Was it a wooden statue? A scarecrow of sorts? It looked vaguely like a Ridgeback, but most of the spines were missing and it was made from wound branches of wood. He just shrugged it off and looked around for someone to point him towards the starfall isle on shaky wings. He started to fly off when the scarecrow grabbed him and brought him to it's face, dark viridian eyes peering at him from under their hood.
"Leave... your kind is not welcome here..." It's speech was broken and had a creak to it, like wood. Almost as quickly as it had appeared, it set Cerebrum down and disappeared behind a thick line of trees. Still confused, the small undead decided it would be best to head back the way he came hoping to be home for the celebration.

Myamoo425
Finally! He made it to the Starfall Isle! Cerebrum stayed around for the celebration, warily watching everything with awe. The dragons celebrated, danced and flew all around, each one celebrating the stars and their deity. It was wondrous.

He wound up staying for nearly a year. It was.. comfortable. But he had to go. The locals were beginning to take notice of the unfortunately missing dragons.

Camisado
Weary wings returned him to the Scarred Wasteland, but the still fresh memory of the life and color outside the Plaguebringer's domain weighed on him too much to stay. He flew away, through the Wasteland, through the Wood, until he found himself within the Sunbeam Ruins. The gentle sunlight, the smell of dust... It was familiar. Had he been here before? It was getting harder to remember the before times with each passing day.

He wandered, searching for something he wasn't sure of, until he was found by a nomadic tribe whose scouts had witnessed him conquer his dinner. Surprisingly, he was taken in by them rather eagerly, all of them impressed with his "skill". He sat around their fire, sharing in their food and drink and stories. He even got to celebrate yet another Starfall Celebration, this time with the few other Arcane dragons within the camp.

Time spent here was... good. These people were kind to him and full of life. They didn't care what he was or what he had done. If anything, they seemed to like him more for it. He liked them too. He had wanted to stay, just a bit longer... But the hunger, the fog, the madness came again. As it always did. He knew he had to go. If it got the best of him (again)... If he did something he would regret (again)... He fled in the middle of the night, fear and cowardice weighing on him too strongly to let him say goodbye.

Misstea
It felt like waking from a dream; as his hunger was sated, pleasure tickled his brain. He eyed the viscera before him, once welcoming friends now turned into dinner. Who were they, again? Did it matter? He wasn't a dragon anymore, but a monster.
Too long he'd been there, restraining himself from making a meal out of these dragons. Everyone was always grouped up, too close to hunt without being caught. But the longer he stayed, the foggier his brain, the quieter his conscience ...
He'd been there too long. Too too t̴o̷o̵.... t̴̺͐̓ợ̴̢̺͝o̷̞̽̾̎͝... l̸̮̰̜̯͓̰͚͐͌̃̒̅̈́̾̌̚̚͘̕͜͜͝͠o̸̧̮̰̜̭̮̖͗̋̄͛̾͝n̵͍̣̙̑̀̀̿̓̐̎͘g̷̢̢̻͔̗͎̲̤͎̞̈́́̌̓͑̆͆͘ͅ...

What did it matter? Now no one was left to point a finger at him. No one running away screaming as he came to. No one left.
In this moment, he just couldn't find it in him to care.
It took him a while to gather himself. More would be coming soon, they always did. He had to hurry.
He gathered his meager belongings and fled. Another lair, another day...

Domiband12
There is way way too hot in here! The active volcano in the middle of the island makes everything seems melting. I can't stay here. I can't eat magma... yet. Not before my true power activates! I need a training to become better! I'm starting to kill monsters at the Coliseum.

Zikul
The next feast was a mouthwatering one, the dining undertaken in the midst of a thunderous storm. Lightning and hailstorm only served to enhance the flavours of the flesh, and Cerebrum felt no regret even as his mind returned little by little. The chase had been almost as satisfying as the catch - the much smaller fae never had put up a valiant struggle, but in reality never had a chance. How beautiful, the sound of bones gnashing between teeth.
