╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
Wisp came to Oakrest while she was yet young, following the reverse of the path so many had taken from the northern Citadel to her own birth clan of Maserift. There, amid the bustle and noise of rebuilding what had been greatly damaged due to a visit by fiends and pirates, Wisp fell in love with the culture and the spirits that surrounded the place.

She wanted to stay, but being young, she also didn't feel as if she had any marketable skills. Glass-blowers and iron workers and masons of all sorts were finding places among the clan, but Wisp could find no place among the laborers. One day, as she wandered through the clan looking for work she could do, she watched traveling dragons roast and smoke meats and dry vegetation for the workers to buy. One, catching her eye, offered to hire her for a few days if she was looking for work. Glad to finally find a way to earn coin instead of spend it, Wisp took the opportunity.

For a few weeks, she learned the art of curing meats, fishes, and plants. She learned how to hawk her wares, to make change, and to speak with her customers. And as she wandered through the work areas at lunch times, her wares carefully laden upon her back, she learned that she quite enjoyed these tasks.

In time, however, her employer sought their fortune elsewhere. And with the coins she had been saving, Wisp purchased her own kitchen, and in time a small smokehouse as well. Her wares are known by laborers and festival-goers alike, and she enjoys trading stories and smalltalk with all who seek her out.

But not all who come to her are looking for food. Wisp inherited a small touch of otherness from her father, and while she presents as a bubbly and cheerful cook, she has a quiet, still heart that attracts the attentions of the dead. Spirits are known to touch her at times, and she sometimes knows more than she should about a dragon. Whether it's a pact with the Shade or usual skydancer insight, most are uncertain.

For a price far higher than a hank of jerky, she will look into the wisps of smoke from her fires and tell your fortunes and your fallings, painting a picture of where the present will lead. Her words, no different than those spoken to tell you the price of a pickled pear, are truer than an archer's shot. She has not yet been proven wrong.

---

Later on, she moved to Amsterwick upon a request for those knowledgeable in food and merchant training. The small town had become a palace from what she had heard, and even had a king and queen now. After settling down, she quickly started selling meats and wares. A few usually come for her other services of fortunes and future, but one day she fell ill.

Unable to work, she closed up shop and stuck herself inside. It started as a headache, but grew more and more as days went by. Her muscles weak, head pounding, throat sore. Too weak to move, she let the sickness swallow her whole as she called for help to no one but wisps of fire and smoke from a candle. She was conscious enough to hear a banging on her door, then a smashed glass and pitter-patters of paws moving across her floor.

She blacked out on her bed.

When she awoke, she was wrapped in her bed with clean sheets. In front of her, a small table stand with a tea set and a cup filled with hot liquid. An imperial walked into the room and gave her a smile. Wisp didn't know imperials could be so small. He had chuckled and showed his enchanted necklace that uses magic to shrink his size. Made sense enough. His name was Snippet, and he followed a wisp to her house. He had no bad intentions, and helped nurse her back to health. Months later, they became business partners. Then mates after a couple of years.
