Aubergine

Aubergine's egg was found abandoned, nestled between two rocks, an inch from falling into the ocean. It was found by the dragon Tarin and raised as her own alongside her own clutch, despite them being two different breeds. Aubergine thrived with her new family. Aubergine spent most of her time with her adoptive mother, nestled under her wing, watching her siblings. Occasionally she would sneak out and approach Feri, who seemed to be the leader of the young group, but they inevitably clashed and Tarin would scold them into meekness.

As she grew older she became more independent, and lost interest altogether in her adoptive clutch mates. Sometimes she would watch Tarin giving her sad eyes, but she cared little. She often picked fights with the others in the lair, leading to a multitude of scratches and bites. The only ones she didn't fight with were her previous clutch mates, Tarin, and Canth. Canth had shown little interest in her when she was young, presumably because he wasn't her child and he had more important dragon to focus upon, she thought. But once she was grown he began to show interest; ruffling his wings when she walked by, and watching her with wide eyes. Eventually she succumbed to his gaze and they produced one egg together. As soon as the egg was laid, she turned on him and drove him out, wanting to raise it herself, and she barely left the cave she had chosen for her nest for the next ten days. The child, Salay, was a healthy mirror dragon, and she was pleased that it resembled her.
