The rain was pouring down now.

Peeking a quick glance outside of the cave—her temporary shelter—she found nothing but stormy grey skies and a blurry landscape. Her frills ruffling in annoyance, she ducked back inside. It seemed like her trip home was going to be delayed by another day or two. Which wasn’t great.

But, at least she found shelter before the sudden rainstorm hit. There was that.

Casting another rueful glance at the entrance, she settled down near the back of the cave and curled up. Tucking her head under her wing, she breathed softly and let her eyes close. Get some rest, and then you can see how the weather is faring in the morning, she thought. She’d been away for too long now. And she wasn’t keen on spending yet another week away.

Just one more day.
