Biography
BACKSTORY:
Ayden hatched from the only clutch that remained, in its entirety, in Clan Loki. Others from the clutch are his Mirror sister, Noc, and his mute Tundra brother, Shyler. Born a Mirror, he got the idea to turn himself into a different breed from Likahn, who was also initially a Mirror. Procuring a breed change scroll, he approached his mother, asking her to teach him how to perform the spell, not altogether sure how she’d react. Elsie, being Elsie, simply smiled and, with the help of her own mentor, taught Ayden the basics of casting. It took some time, but eventually, Ayden had learned what he needed to to make the spell work. He wasted no time in using the scroll, and he immediately went from Mirror to Skydancer. After the experience, Ayden realized he had some interest in studying, even if the subject was not spellery. He began to look into other things, like Mariketa, whose passion lay in history and relics, or literature, like Kopaka. After a time of searching, he found he had some affinity for botany, particularly plants of a medicinal nature. He started to study them, finding out which plants could hurt and which could heal. Before he realized, Ayden had actually developed considerable skill as a healer, in the end becoming the one his clanmates consulted after visiting the Coliseum. Ayden soon started joining his mother and the Pearlcatcher, Suka, on foraging trips, collecting materials for medicine and antidotes to poisons. It was on one of these trips that he met Machika, another Skydancer, who also had an appreciation for plants--flowers, to be specific--though her interest was mostly aesthetic. They had other things in common, however, and the two became fast friends.
PERSONALITY:
Ayden is a mild-mannered and caring dragon. Unlike Likahn, his Mirror character traits have all but disappeared, unless he happens to be playing with Machika. Like his mother, he has a profound appreciation for the simple things in life, but is by no means daunted by complicated matters. In these situations, he can be very like his father, Casper, in his straightforward approach to things. Like the other scholars within the clan, Ayden is in the habit of keeping his work area very neat and orderly. This is because he enjoys experimenting with the different properties of the plants he finds and likes to keep track of his inventory, lest there be a dangerous mix-up. Ayden will generally withold from asking anyone to be a test subject to his experiments, preferring to perform them on himself should the experiment pose some sort of risk. Though occasionally unpredictable, these ventures are harmless the vast majority of the time. The few times he encounters something that is even remotely dangerous, Ayden elects to leave the projects unfinished, until such a time as he has a better understanding of what he’s dealing with. When not busy experimenting or foraging, he likes to spend his time out and about, romping and exploring the different territories with his best friend, Machika, and clan leader, Loki. Ayden also harbors some degree of admiration for the clever and harmless pranks Takua & Hielo (his cousin) pull on the other denizens of the clan, simply for the wit, skill and patience it often takes the dastardly duo to perform them. He has no desire, whatsoever, to pull pranks like these himself. No, really.
The one time Ayden performed a questionable experiment on himself, it caused him, from that point on, to experience frequent glimpses into the near future. These episodes are always preceded by headaches of varying intensities, haralding the vividness or length of the vision to come. Ayden has since become more cautious when he experiments.
