XHICAR
The exiled.

Tremors in the ground.

Far away, but approaching quickly. Definitely spooked, Xhicar notes. Big. Hooves - no. Feet. Could be a Wendigo.

He waits until the tremors grow closer and stronger before lifting his head from the cobblestones. There's an angry bellow in the near distance. He tastes the air, wrinkling his snout. Furry and musky, and bloody. Most definitely a Wendigo.

His paws rest on his sword, and he flattens himself against the corridor wall. The angle at which the passageway opens into the courtyard gives him a view of the wall opposite the entrance, and the soft moonlight illuminates the courtyard beautifully.

He's in position. All that needs to happen is for the Wendigo to be in place. The pounding of hooves and feet draws closer, and the earth rumbles in anticipation.

The Wendigo bursts into the courtyard with a roar, eyes wild and foam at its mouth. Its momentum sends it flying into the wall opposite, and Xhicar winces at the crunch of flesh against the stone wall, the impact rocking the courtyard. It bellows louder, more from rage than pain, and turns to face its pursuer.

With a clatter of hooves, Ulgir gallops into the courtyard and her arrow flies true into the beast's eye. The Wendigo screams and claws at its face, and howls when two arrows sink into its knees.

This is his chance. With a muttered spell the ground erupts around the Wendigo and entraps it in stone and earth. Again the beast roars but can do no more than thrash against its bonds.

Xhicar unsheathes his sword and leaps towards the beast, and fells it in one swift strike.
