Biography

It has been a long time since Regina was innocent.

She spent her youth that way, curious and lively, without a care in the world. She was beloved and bothersome, as all hatchlings tend to be, and she had a heart as big as the sun. Her birth clan, though, was hungry and lean, not starving but not interested in leisurely opulence. Whatever innocence Regina once had was trained out of her the moment she was old enough to fight, and in its place, her clan tried to enforce a thirst for honor.

They sold her for that honor, really. A coalition of clans held a gladiatorial tournament. The dead would be dead, and the living would be rich, and either way, their home clans would be glorified for the prowess their combatant showed. And though Regina was not their first choice, she happened to be the best choice. Despite her desperation to maintain her innocence, she possessed all the drive that the Plaguebringer's children have in the face of death. Where she was expected to perish, she brought ruin instead. When the dust settled, she was the victor, and the purse was hers.

But she hated the money, hated the honor, hated the blood on her claws, and instead of giving the prize to her cruel birth clan, she fled them and took the money. There had been a Guardian who had fought alongside Regina during those hellish days, one that held her hand as she broke apart. It was during this time of running that she found Apocolypse again, the first bright note in a long while, and she offered her heart to the strange, strong Guardian who had shown her such kindness and care. She offered her heart to Apo's children, too, protecting the hatchlings as if they were her own, and with time, her pearl began to shimmer with some of Apo's vibrant color. Her lover was everything bright about the world that she had lost, everything wonderful she missed.

Apo's clan were long-standing allies with another, one settled in the heart of Dragonhome. It was safe, far away from her birth clan, and -better still- the distance meant that it would not endanger the Guardian she loved so fiercely, or her children. They would still be able to see each other often, and Regina found herself a great deal more comfortable being unable to see beyond the mountains and plateaus of the Earth territory to the crystal spires that marked her childhood home.

Now, she helps to manage Crosswinds financials. She does not enjoy working with money, but has a keen sense for it, and it has helped her find her place in the clan. It also helps her support her son, one that she and Apo consider theirs, not just Apo's. One that she can raise with all the love and light and innocence she wishes she had been allowed to keep. Now if only Morphling would behave himself...

Moonwatcher2811's Poem wrote:
Youth.
Innocence.
How long since she had basked in their lovely glow.
Now her world was full of death.
Blood.
War.
Creatures that thirsted for blood.
Any blood,
Even hers.

The creatures she had once called her family,
Gone.
In their place were simple-minded creatures with one goal.
To kill.
Their spirit was an empty shell,
Hollowed out long ago.
Leaving Regina to desperately try and fill in the empty space.

Winning.
Honor.
Those words became hollowed just like her clan-mates.
Where had everything gone wrong?

That stupid money.
All it brought was death.
Death and blood.
So she ran.
She ran from the power hungry clan until she could run no longer.
Then she crash-landed straight into the claws of hope.
Hope!
And now hope had a name,
Apocalypse.
How lovely was that?

Time had once been spent on long days,
Training.
How long since she had taken time for herself,
Just for the fun of it.
The lovey, vibrant dragon,
With a name describing almost the exact opposite of it’s intended meaning.
For Apocalypse had been her savior.
Her angel.
Her light in the dark of despair and depression.
Her blade to cut the chains holding her down.
Her freedom.
And the children.
Those lovely, beautiful children,
Who held Regina’s heart.
Who filled her world with hope,
And love,
And light.
They were her world.

Slowly Regina’s scars healed.
Her blood clotted.
Her scales hardened.
But her mind was forever scarred.
The memories.
The screams.
The thin, frail bodies.
Their bloodthirsty eyes.
What would have become of Regina if she had stayed?
If she had agreed and let the waves of darkness overcome her?
Wondering did her no good though,
She thought.
Basking in the sun,
With her new clan-mates by her side,
Regina wondered if it really mattered.
