Keejarra
The Keeper of Secrets

Keejarra is known among the clan as the "Keeper of Secrets," for the many things she knows. Few among the clan, her, the leaders, and a select few others, are privileged to know exactly who every member is and what they do. Keejarra keeps track of every member's particular skills, every job the clan is hired for, and determination of who is sent along to fill it. She has to know not only who hired them, but who among them is best suited for it, and who might not be. Such knowledge can not be permitted to fall into the wrong hands. Such knowledge is dangerous.

She seems to know things, many more things than she should. For part of it at least, her sources are apparent. Some of the dragons of the clan who specialize in intelligence, such as Lucian, report to her. She's also one of the small number allowed regular contact with The Queen of Crows, not just through her messenger birds, but allowed into her lair itself. However, she also seems to know things that are kept deep secrets, or things that the dragon in question would prefer no one to know. It's sometimes said that she can talk to shadows, and at night, if she chooses to, she can call any dragon's shadow to her where it will whisper its secrets in her ear.

Dragons whom she personally deems suitable for a mission are generally informed of it via a message delivered by crow. They know that they might not be the only candidate, so it's best to reply promptly if they're interested. They're then invited down to her curiously ordinary office, distinguished only by its many, many, locked cabinets, for a little interview. She makes sure to talk with them before she ever assigns them any jobs, making sure that they're perfectly suitable. A dragon whose mate is expecting might be too divided, while one who is seething from a recent insult might be too reckless, and she always draws the information out of them. Her conversation is gentle, pleasant even, hardly an interrogation, and many of the clan's dragons are surprised by how caring and genuinely interested she is, for a figure with such a sinister reputation. She considers herself, in a way, a caretaker of the clan. Knowing their deepest secrets make her feel rather close to them, even if they don't know it.

Although she uses the knowledge ruthlessly, Keejarra takes her reputation as Keeper of Secrets very seriously. She never gossips idly, or lets so much as a single confidence pass her lips unless it's absolutely necessary that that knowledge be passed on. Dragons asking what she does in her meetings with the mysterious Queen of Crows, all the more interesting since the subject defends her privacy so readily, are gracefully dodged. “We have tea, usually. Her crows particularly like scones,” is the only answer. More than that, even the knowledge of the Queen's favorite type of tea, is never revealed to even the most persistent questioner. (She does know, of course. It's blackcurrant.)

Because so many dragons would love to get their claws on her and the knowledge she carries, it's quite dangerous for her to leave the clan's hidden lair, and she rarely does so. The last time she did, she was set upon by a pair of the clan's enemies, intent on capturing her and learning the clan's weaknesses. Their warriors were able to rescue her, guided by a swift-flying crow, to where the rest of the flock harried and slowed her kidnappers. Since then, she's been unwilling to leave again.
