Scarletta
Three dragons kept vigil over a miniscule Plague egg as it rocked, wobbling, back and forth in the moss-covered nest. Andromeda's lanky body was curled around itself in a snakelike manner as she stared at the egg from about a half-meter away. The majority of her vestments were purely ornamental, and as such most had been taken off; her fidgeting hands worried her Scavenger's Tatters and birdskull necklace incessantly. Tourmaline stood back further with Cullen, off to the right of the nest next to a small stockpile of emergency medicine, if the need arose. Valentine and Sienna, from another nest a few meters away, occasionally peeked over to make sure that all was well as they attended their own hatchlings.

A few days prior, a scavenging expedition had gone to gather items off the coast of Plague's territories when, unbeknownst to them, a small mucus-green egg slid off the side of a steep cliff and plopped into an open backpack. They hadn't even noticed that they'd picked up a hitchhiker until they returned home after a thankfully-smooth journey.

As the clan decided what to do with their newest member, Andromeda sensed...something wrong with the egg. Despite the fact that all outward appearances noted a healthy countenance, a sick feeling had been crawling up her spine ever since she'd lain eyes on it. A fellow Plagueling's intuition, she'd claimed to a worried Tourmaline.

Tourmaline hummed, his tongue flicking in agreement. "A lifetime of caring for young has led me to trust in the instincts of those who share elements," he asserted, Standard Draconic flowing off his tongue after almost a year of practice. Even so, he advised that the abnormally-calm Spiral burn some thank offerings to Plaguebringer in the small alcove they had dedicated to her for her divine protection.

Cullen shifted her gigantic, furred tail, snapping the Spiral back to the present. The egg continued to rock unstably as Andromeda's long body twitched, equal parts impatient and uneasy.

What if the hatchling turns out to be ill? What if Tidelord chooses them? What's it going to be like, having another Plague dragon in the clan?

Finally, the egg lurched forward, a sick snap sound reverberating through the water-worn cavern as it cracked like a chicken egg lobbed at the ground.

Everyone held their breaths in tandem; Tourmaline's tongue flicked out to taste the air for any hint of infectious diseases while Cullen's tail twitched back and forth, toying with her stockpile of various herbs.

A runny, scarlet liquid slid out of the once-green discarded eggshell, and for a moment Andromeda saw Tourmaline tense, as if getting ready to strike the potential threat to his clan. The goop landed on the moss with a wet plop and started moving forward.

A few seconds later, a tiny pair of glassy, sick-looking eyes appeared-almost unnoticeable in the murky goo-as a shape began to emerge from the liquid. Quietly - its wings jerking open - stumbling forth as if blind and falling over itself many times, made its way to the edge of the moss.

The vibrantly-colored and nearly ruby baby Fae plopped from the edge of the moss and, shaking with clouded, unseeing eyes, clumsily crawled forward, picking itself off the ground in grotesque contractions.

Andromeda breathed with bated breath as the tiny Plague hatchling ed its way towards her, leaving a blood-colored trail behind it. No one dared move.

With one final spasm, the hatchling collapsed onto the fabric of Andromeda's tatters, draping over them
