Excitable in his youth, age brought serenity for Giolladhe, though many of Clan Brightclaw still call him Fibonacci's little shadow, a reference to how he trailed after his mate when they were young. He was once enthralled by the idea of learning magic, but he came to understand that magic was not among his particular skills, and was content to let his daughter work the magic she learns from the clan-mother while he stuck to being a scout for the clan.

While out scouting solo one day, however, Giolladhe was caught in a Talonok ambush and had his main wings broken at the base. While the bones did heal, they were severely weakened by the damage, as were the muscles around his wings that had been torn. He now wears steam-powered wing joints to enable him to use his main wings, if sparingly; he can no longer make the long, fast flights that made him an effective scout, and so now scavenges for the clan.

Fibonacci and Giolladhe are in a polycule with Caelus and Margarit, and Giolladhe now mates primarily with Margarit. Giolladhe and Margarit are partners in work, as well, Margarit catching insects while Giolladhe scavenges.

Karou has offered Giolladhe a new body many times, to rid him of the problem of his injured wings, but Giolladhe refuses every time; his injury has not made him any less, and he's grown accustomed to the change. She convinced him to at least allow her to help write runes into his skin, which relieve some of his aches while resting and shorten the time it takes him to recover from using his wings, but he won't accept anything else: he's content with what he's been given and doesn't want to undo his life experiences by discarding his body simply because it's injured.

When he and Margarit go out for work, they're often joined by young Arthemis, a formidable fighter and great huntress that takes over gathering meat while Margarit is busy with insects and Giolladhe is scavenging. Their relationship with the Spiral is close, both out in the field and at home, regarding her as family.
