Life was indistinct before the plummet, if he even existed at all before that moment. Tautou did not have any recollection of a former life. He awoke to the realm of Sornieth soaring far above a sparkling sea, as if he had just been born into existence. But this life that he came to be was short lived, and before he even realized it, he was plummeting straight into that water below. The sea was calling to him as if it was the purpose for his creation.

With the immense speed that he was falling at, Tautou injured his wings upon his impact with the water’s surface. Unable to swim, he gradually descended into the Sea of a Thousand Currents, where he sank thousands and thousands of feet below. He will never again fly but he has adapted to the deepsea since then, banding together with an oracle of the Tidelord named Entendu and slowly carving out a home for Clan Abyss in the darkest of caves beneath the sea.

When Entendu eventually left, Tautou lost his will to maintain the clan, and Pacific was appointed as the Overseer in their absence. But despite his lack of leadership qualities and constant sufferings of self-doubt, Tautou is still well respected by the other dragons as the clan founder; it is because he possesses an unrivaled determination in the darkest of times that no other dragon can surpass. It is always him alone that upholds the clan and leads it ahead, enduring the impossible, the daunting, and the suffering that forward brings, no matter if he wants to or not, and it is for that reason he shines like a beacon of hope in this sullen sea. Tautou knew there would be no looking back from day one, and he has not seen the sunlight since.
