Ristretto mixes the glazes for the pottery that Acapella and Amyris produce as well as many of the dyes for Moonlit Nyyt Weyr's yarns and fabrics. His specialty is using various clays and minerals, although since he and Lichen have become a pair, he has begun experimenting with plant bases as well. His familiar, Caliche, uses her intimate knowledge of boulders, rocks, gravels and clay to help him find what he needs. Together they are a marvelous excavation team.

Caliche was a gift from Ristretto's friend Riku. Apparently she followed her home one day and then, after hearing about Ristretto's need for help with rocks and minerals, she consented to move to Moonlit Nyyt Weyr and bond with Ristretto.

Ristretto keeps this artwork of his friend Chance to keep his memory going. Chance has since moved to another lair, as well as his mate Kismet, who Sundae keeps a memory of as well.
