Biography

| ISOLDE | [♫] Word of God
{ Warder | She/Her | Straight }

Born into a highly religious kingdom on the snowy slopes of the Cloudscrape Crags, Isolde has never known life without her people’s god. She was raised on His word, taught to respect it above all others, and there was no one more important to her than Him. She quickly found her calling among the clergy as a vicar—one who acted as a translator for His word, and, thus, as His voice.

For much of her life, she served the clergy faithfully and was favored among its High Council. During this time, she fell unfathomably in love with its head, Lord Aldrich. Though their bond was a strong one, as he thought her wonderfully brilliant and gifted, she never confessed her feelings, for members of the clergy were not permitted to marry. They were to give all of their love to Him and Him alone.

When the High Council began to persecute those they deemed unholy, it was Isolde who opposed them most openly. She had spent many long years reflecting on who and what she was, and to see others like her being condemned for daring to be true to themselves was intolerable.

So, in the vain hope that the High Council might see reason, she cast aside her birth name, Isaac, and took the name Isolde, declaring boldly, “I am a dam!”

For her heresy, she was exiled, betrayed by her beloved, and that is how she came to the Sunbeam Ruins, alone, downtrodden, and uncertain of where she might fit in. There, she found Rhea and saved the young cleric from a terrible fate at the hands of a dark beast. Rhea had been cursed by his opponent and was now no longer welcome among his order. Seeing something of herself in the lad, Isolde invited him to join her on her journeys, and the two became inseparable.

When they arrived in Feldspar territory, Isolde was wary. She had searched long for a place where her identity would be accepted. Bearing her soul to near strangers was not without risk—but the founders understood and gladly opened their hearts to her.

Now, with Rhea as her brother and the village as her home, her days as Isaac seem almost like a bad dream.
