The other head forger for the Embear’s Den, working in complete harmony with Frin. Despite being one of the founding pair, he prefers to solely forge and differs any leadership duties to Frin or Vanki. A kind and thoughtful soul, all are put to ease by his presence despite his scars and bloody bandages.
Past

Fished from the shores of what would become Churnscar Wharf, Gunarik was raised along the more temperate oceans lining the Ashfall Wastes. He lived a comfortable life among other guardians, fishing to his heart’s content. However, he could never settle for too long, as he knew the pull from his charge would come soon. It quickly led him to the lands of the Ashfall Wastes, a far cry from what he was used to. Gunarik gave himself a quick shake, and started to walk. It wasn’t long until he met a small carmine-and-brown fae fluttering aimlessly. There was an instant settling of his soul and a sudden fierce protectiveness towards her, and he knew that she was his charge. However, how can one say that to a dragon one has never even exchanged a word to? Instead, Gunarik introduced himself to Frin, and offered to explore the Ashfall Wastes, for her to find her passion and for him to ‘find’ his charge. The next few months were the best that Gunarik had ever known. Meeting all new kinds of dragons, taking up all sorts of small jobs, and all beside a dragon that was both his charge and someone he was beginning to love. Upon this realization, the guilt started to eat away at him, and he could also feel Frin getting more impatient about finding his charge. After one particularly tense dinner, Gunarik admitted his deceit. He knew what he did was terrible, and would understand if Frin would never want to see him again. Miraculously, she did forgive him. He put in as much work as he could to rebuild the trust they once had, no matter how long it took. Frin figured her passion was forging, and Gunarik would follow her whatever she did, so they agreed to start a shop together. After laying a clutch together, more dragons started to join for various reasons, and soon they had a full-scale shop on their claws.

Today, Gunarik handles most heavy-duty forging, from sun up to sun down. Otherwise, he can be found wandering the back end of the shop. As a pair of a guardian and a fae, one of the largest and smallest dragons, the two worked hard to make the clan as accommodating to every dragon. As he eventually turned away from leadership duties, Gunarik instead took it upon himself to look after the employee’s emotional needs. A new employee would find themselves personally tutored by him, and a dragon who had a bad day might find a basket with their favorite food inside their room, without even seeing Gunarik all day.

Personality

Despite his mate being a fae, she is certainly the louder of the pair. He prefers to let his hammer do the talking, showing his passion through his work. Fairly intuitive, can tell a dragon’s mood from looking at subtle signs, gained from having to interpret subtle fae emotions. Has a surprising mischievous side as well. Will certainly assist in any pranks that a dragon wants to pull, a fact that every employee knows, yet believes they are the only one that knows. Has a fierce love for his family, and if anything threatens them, he’s rumored to fight better than even Rosie.

Small Facts
  • His scars and bandages are old, gained from wandering the rougher parts of the Ashfall Wastes. He still keeps wearing the bloody bandages as he feels they make him look more intimidating, a trait that surprises Frin.
  • Most of the clan, including even some of the oldest employees, aren’t sure how his stomach plates became coated with gold. The most common tale is that he accidentally coated himself with molten gold when forging, though he tends to simply shake the question off. What’s more fun than a little mystery?
  • While on his faux-search with Frin, he spent a lot of time teaching her how to express emotions through her face and voice. In turn, she also taught him how to express base emotions through extending and collapsing the fins on his face. As such, all of their children in the clan do a combination of both.
  • When best friends Frin and Venusaur meet up, Gunarik has to be there as she is his charge. Thankfully
Genesect is just as protective of his mate Venusaur. They’ve become a strange pair of friends, having a drink together while Frin and Venusaur grab a coffee at the cafe next door.
  • If no one is in danger, his fighting skills are average at best. However, due to his occupation, he is physically strong regardless.
  • His favorite things to forge are weapons, mainly swords. However, Frin prefers armor. Many mornings, they can be heard playfully arguing which commissions to do first.
