Biography
Huntress
Hatchling
Past Thief and Clan Leader A lost egg, hatched and raised by the wild's uncaring arms, Huntress was a curious and cheeky hatchling at birth. Were she not as well a hunter as she was, she might have been lost to the forest's wrath as many before her had been. Even at a young age, she had a deep love for shiny objects of varying wealth. From bottle caps to jewels to coins, she wanted it all. Spending less time hunting for food and more time searching for the glint of precious objects (or trash that sparkled just right), she seemed destine a thief. Her diet, little as it was, kept her lithe and sly, yet her muscle built up from all her flying and sneaking about. She was a strong, yet lithe dragon; the perfect build for her occupation. She learned from dragons around her, taught to speak and fly from those friendly enough to stop and aid the poor orphan mirror wandering the reed woods of The Windswept Plateau. Unfortunately, many of those dragons left with lighter packs as well, as Huntress was quick to take what she figured should be her's. Which was anything and everything she could get her talons on. Few realized what was gone until she herself was gone too. Youth Her hobby grew with her age and once she was old enough to understand wealth and value, her treasures became only the rarest of objects. What was one of a kind, worth the world and or sparkled in the sun she wanted it no place but between her claws. "The rarer the better" became her personal motto, and she followed it like a religion. Her hoard was ever-growing, and her appetite for gold seemed unquenchable. Years of experience taught her to walk in the shadows to conceal her bright colors, on her toes so her claws never scratched against the stone of lair walls. She learned to fly silent as an owl, climb and glide instead of risk the sound of a wing beat. She learned to use her extra sights to help her navigate the darkness, and even use her crests to better hear and direct sound. She became quiet and steady as the night itself. Of course, not everyone was as content about her thievery as she was. As her hoard of trinkets grew, so did her reputation, and before long anyone who knew her name wanted her gone or dead before she found her way into their lair. Those who had lost valuables to her were keen on seeking revenge but gone in a flash, the thief was not very easily found. One unfortunate night with an angry Ridgeback who slept lighter than she had anticipated left her with a badly broken leg, the dragon leaving her alive but just barely. With her injury, she could not walk as well and silent as she needed, and it became clear that it was time to move on. With her trusty satchel and some cloth armor, she set off into the world to find a mate worthy of her company to settle down with. Current Long days or searching found her a mighty Guardian, a crown of his enemies bones atop his head. They met and shared stories of victories in battle and in stealth, and set out together into the world to find a place to found their home. The beast she had fallen for kept them safe, and Huntress, though limping and unable to sneak up, could use him as a distraction to steal food and gold as they needed it. Eventually, they found a spot on the cliff's edge, with game to hunt, a river to fish from, and room enough to begin their empire of unsavory wanderers. They watch over their clan like family, treating each with respect, even those who will not return the favor, as if they were their own. Dragons come and dragons go, but Huntress will stay with her mate till the day the world collapses. Upon the Night of Nocturne did Huntress come across a strange scroll, the urge to take it overcoming any fear of what it might do. Upon touching it, she became a Nocturne dragon herself. She quite likes the change, as it makes her small and easy to hide. Were she still a thief, she swears she could have made off with more treasure than ever before. As of recent times, The Windswept Plateau no longer felt like home. Though it had kept Huntress and the Clan safe for many years, a change of scenery and a home better suited to the unsavory tastes of those dragons who now called the clan home seemed in order. The Tangled Wood, known for treacherous tricksters and eerie scenery was just the place to settle down. The move was hard and long, but once a place within the woods was cleared and the tents were put back together, everyone settled in quite nicely. |
