Aiea had been different than her brother, had been since she crawled out of her egg, with sparks and lighting flashing around her tiny claws, she was the firstborn, the storm incarnated, the very power of her parents combined, poured into a body just strong enough to not melt away under the pure possibility of her power, roaring through her veins. The firstborn child to the Patriarch and Matriarch of the Rune, Aiea's blood was so rich with magical potential, it almost drove her mad, would definitely turn her into a violent, insane beast capable of mass destruction, if no one would guide and teach her control, show her how to use her nearly endless energy for other things than smashing and destroying.

It took Sanipkur - her father - not long to realize, that he, despite all his talent and power, would not be able to be this person, this mentor that his wild daughter desperately needed. While growing up, other hatchlings avoided Aiea, as did most adults, because she was too wild, too much like a raging storm, sparking and shaking the earth with her energy. She retaliated by tormenting and bullying those much weaker than her, never once backing off, causing only more trouble the longer she was around. The isolation was only worsened by an almost accident Aiea caused, in which she almost shattered her brother’s precious pearl in a fit of anger, jealousy and childish wrath. After that, her mother - Amelia - took things in her own claw.

Amelia knew a Clan, that was a rather new, still largely unknown ally of her home clan, a clan located at the border between the Scarred Wasteland and Tangled Wood. The pearlcatcher took her daughter to this Clan, showed her to the dragons that lived there. She feared that they would deny her request for taking over Aiea's training. But the Undying Empire, said Clan, never shied away from a challenge. And neither would they disappoint an ally that helped them in their time of need. Aiea was taken care of, she became an apprentice of every mage and Champion, that would dare to come close to her.

They taught her much needed control, how to rage without turning everything around her into ash and ruin. In fact. Aiea didn't even hesitated, she agreed without thinking twice about it, became a member of Fen's group of warriors once the Imperial offered her a chance to join, she quickly became a valued member with her ability to attack not only with the bone shattering force every guardian owned but also with her wild magic.

But even after spending years with the Undying Empire, Aiea found it too hard to forgive her parents for sending her away, for all but abandoning her with the next best clan, even with the knowledge that she had been nothing but a nuisance in her home clan, that she had been a bully and a danger, did nothing to soothe the hurting heart of a hurt child, that felt rejected by her parents. Still, when news reached the Empire, that something had happened to her brother, nothing and no one could hold Aiea back from racing across several Flights just to be at Samuel's side, to support him in a way she had failed to do as a child and older sister before.

When Aiea left and returned to the Empire this time however, it was because of her own choice, carrying her brother’s unwanted child in her arms with the promise to take care of the child, to never tell it the truth of it’s dark heritage. The incident might had been dark and sinister, but it helped Aiea swallow her pride and letting go of her grudge, taking the steps necessary to become closer to her family again.

While she raised Donohtha like her own son, Aiea finally felt the irresistible pull of her charge, drawing her closer and closer towards the Rune. What she found was enough to make her lose her control several times, finding out that the boy she had loved to torment as a child was the very charge of her, send her into a flying rage more than once. Asriel - the boy that had suffered under Aiea for large parts of their childhood - was not a forgiving one either, rejected her half hearted apologies. It all came down to a duel gone wrong, a travel across dimensions and something that Aiea preferred to forget again, that they were able to see over the mutual hatred, to slowly come closer again.

Aiea’s and Asriel’s shaky friendship continued to grow, even if her patience had been tested several times by her nephew Donohtha and Asriel himself, Aiea managed to remain grounded, to not slip back into old patterns of behavior, even if the temptation was there. He supported her in her time of need, which lead to them inevitably growing closer than platonic friendship. By the time Aiea had recovered, Asriel had already become her mate and by the time she returned to the ranks of the Undying Empire’s warriors, he had already given her the greatest gift possible.

Becoming not only a protector, but also a mother, had sobered Aiea up, had grounded her in ways she didn’t even knew that she needed. It had given her a feeling of responsibility and she would defend her children, her mate, charge and the Empire with all her strength, happily give any intruder hell if they threatened the safety of those she called Family.
