✦_ D R A G O N _ B R E E D I N G _✦
Any male and female dragon that is RTB and at least 5 generations apart can be placed on a nest, but unless you're breeding fodder (dragons you intend to exalt), you'll want to consider your pairs more carefully! Dragon breeds are classed by rarity, which has to do with breeding cool downs. The longer the cool down period, the rarer the dragon. | Rarity also affects the odds of hatching a particular breed. If you mate two dragons of the same rarity, ie. two Plentifuls : a tundra and a fae, there's a 50/50 chance of hatching either breed. If you breed a Common and a Plentiful, say a Tundra and a Spiral, the odds are slightly greater of hatching a Tundra. If you pair a Rare dragon like a Coatl, with a Plentiful like a Fae, it's almost 100% likely all hatchlings will be the Plentiful breed, Fae. |
What about genes...? ________________________________ | There are three types of gene classification: primary, secondary and tertiary. Each classification affects a different part of the dragon. All genes, regardless of classification, are broken into rarity categories. |
Primary Genes:
affects the body Secondary Genes : ('wing genes') affect wings, and accent spots like tail fur, head feathers, horns, etc. Tertiary Genes: can cover body and wings, overlaps primary and secondary genes |

Dragons can have anywhere from 1-4 eggs. Parents of different breeds have a chance of laying five eggs. It will take 6 days to hatch your nest if you incubate the eggs every day. That's five days of incubation and one for hatching! A day is calculated by FR rollover. To hatch your eggs you must have enough space in your lair. There's no penalty for leaving eggs that are ready to hatch on a nest. The eggs will simply wait until you're ready to hatch them.

Making Changes... _______________________ |
Scrolls let you modify your dragons. It's best to remove skins and apparel before applying scrolls to avoid glitches in appearance! |
|
_______________________ Breed Change Scrolls: will change the breed of your dragon. Found in the treasure marketplace with the exception of coatl scrolls, which are a gem breed. Wildclaws, also a gem breed, cycle in and out; look for posts on the front page to know when they're available. Gene Scrolls: change a dragon's genes. Any genes replaced will be passed to future hatchlings. The change is permanent, at least until you apply another scroll. |
_______________________ Nocturnes are a festival item found during Night of the Nocturne. Imperials were a kickstarter gift and no longer available. A dragon's breed can be changed anytime but if it's on a nest the gene won't pass to those hatchlings. Unless the dragon is RTB its cooldown won't be affected. You do not have to remove genes. 'Remove Gene' scrolls are if you want your dragon to have a basic gene. All but the 'rare' genes are available in the treasure marketplace. Be patient, they tend to sell-out quickly! |
|
Scroll of Renaming: allows you to change the name of your dragon. This is a treasure item. _______________________ |
Scroll of Eternal Youth: turns the dragon into a perma-baby. Babies can't wear skins or apparel, they can't be used as a profile-image or mate, and they will not grow up until you apply a Scroll of Maturity. This is a gem item. |
Boon of Fertility: hatches one nest immediately, regardless of how many incubation days were left. This is a gem item. |
Scroll of Maturity: ages one hatchling into an adult. This does not make the dragon RTB. It's available in the gem marketplace. |

( 1 ) The Auction House (AH). Click the 'auction' button in your dragon's bio, or go to 'sell' in the AH. Dragons can't have a familiar, skins or apparel, or be part of a coli party to list. Check to see what dragons with similar genes and colors sell for. The AH charges a tax when you sell for treasure. Be aware that if a hatchling is sold for around 5k or under, or an adult is sold for 8k or under, there's a strong likelihood it has been bought as fodder. ( 2 ) Hatcheries Great for showing off pairs and hatchlings but they require some work to be effective. Make sure your layout is user-friendly, and bump the thread often. Build-up your affiliates and advertise! ( 3 ) Dragons Wanted Forum. Even with a hatchery this forum is most of the action happens. Pop in frequently to see if anyone's looking for dragons that match what you're selling. It's also a great way to advertise your hatchery and pairs. Do not spam threads with dragons that don't match what the person is looking for! ( 4 ) Hold an auction. Best for rare or fancy dragons such as 1st gens, low-digit dragons, or dragons with rare genes/colors. Auctions belong in the 'Dragon Sales' section, or 'Arcane Sales'. These are a bit tricky to fun and require some practice. Post a clean, easy-to-follow thread that shows dragon(s) up for bidding, highest bid, and duration of auction. Ping previous bidders when the price increases.
Good luck!
