Biography
Gisil was never a complicated dragon. He ate, he slept, he watched the fires. He gathered plants and kept certain pretty fish in a pond of his own. From time to time he would help the smiths, holding the stock or working the bellows, swinging the sledgehammer for them or just fetching them water. He liked the forges. He liked the rhythm of the striking, the ring of steel on steel, the smell of the fires and the hot metal. He marveled at the ability of the smiths, how they could take some flat, straight metal and craft a beautiful piece of art or a strong, protective armor capable of taking powerful hits without hurting the dragon within.
It was at the forge where he met Nil. She’d happened by, and one of the smiths was impressed by her detail work. They were working together on a project, Nil adding fine work to the larger smith’s work. Gisil worked the bellow, absently watching the smiths at work. Nil’s delicate work caught his attention. To be able to shape raw material with such care and skill - fascinating. Gisil made a point to be at the forge whenever Nil was working, whether she needed his help or not.
The Tundra’s constant presence didn’t go unnoticed. Nil preferred work without interruption or distraction, but she found his presence strangely comforting. He was always handy when she needed a bit more muscle or just another hand. And even when all he did was sit and watch her, she found his attention helped her focus.
When the time came for Nil to move on, Gisil followed.
