Biography

Skyward is a quiet and stoic dragon, rarely speaking and preferring to communicate with a nod or shake of his head, with the occasional thoughtful hum. He holds honour above all else, and goes to great lengths to respect everyone, including enemies and prey. Sky strongly believes that actions speak louder than words, and upholds this belief by wordlessly helping anyone who needs it.

He is almost always accompanied by a Tigerblood Foo named Virtue. She is one of his closest companions, and the two of them are nearly inseparable. If you see one of them, the other is almost certainly nearby, just out of sight. Both of them take their sentry duties very seriously, and act very professional while on job.

Skyward isn't always so impassive, however. For a long time he struggled with depression, but used his strict moral compass to keep himself busy and on track. There are a lot of things he was forced to do during Synth's reign that he deeply regrets, and it's possible he will never forgive himself for what he did back then. Luckily, he's no longer facing it alone.

Skyward grew very close with Kemitha, and the two of them even have a couple children together; Eda and Aer. Skyward and Kemitha aren't in a romantic relationship, but have a lot of fondness for each other, and are good friends. He often hangs out with her when he needs to unwind, as he enjoys listening to her ramble about the latest book she's read, or the new things she's learned. He's a very good listener, and she's very happy to talk for hours on end about the things she's passionate about.

Eventually, Skyward encountered Kareem, a Skydancer who got injured and lost in the dense bamboo forests around the clan. After Sky and the other two dragons he was patrolling with brought him to the clan and he recovered, they learned Kareem was deaf, and had been kicked out from his previous clan because of it. He'd been wandering around on his own aimlessly for the past few years, not having anywhere to go, and had unknowingly wandered into possibly the most dangerous part of the Windswept Plateau.

Skyward visited Kareem frequently while he recovered from his injuries, being one of the few dragons who knew some sign language at the time thanks to being friends with the resident mute Spiral, Zellien. Being mostly nonverbal himself by choice, Skyward had long since mastered the art of conveying his intent through actions and body language, so even though his sign language was pretty limited (Zellien mostly communicates through writing and drawing as opposed to using sign language at dragons who can't understand him), they managed to communicate pretty well.

In fact, the two of them ended up getting along so well, Kareem ended up staying in the clan even after he had fully recovered, and eventually moved in with Skyward. They're currently in a dedicated relationship, and Skyward can get pretty protective of his boyfriend.

Before, Skyward never smiled, always serious and task-oriented, but nowadays it's not so uncommon to see him smiling softly, and some have even heard a rare laugh or two. He still takes his job seriously, but it's clear he's a lot happier than he used to be.
