Xek is a quiet Arcane spirit who is often credited with fixing bugs in programs (in contrast with Ruth, who's blamed for causing them).

Not all members can see Xek. Unlike Ruth, who everyone knows was an actual CHRC member before being killed by a meteor, some are skeptical as to whether Xek actually exists or is simply an old running joke.

The truth is, Xek is real. In an alternate reality, he was simply a humble programmer, one of the offspring of one of the CHRC's founders, Greer. But with a his job skills and a little bit of magic, he finished the Center's time machine and changed the past- and he became a little Arcane spirit, and followed the Center members on their expedition to Lightning.

Though Xek's the reason the Center ended up with a time machine in one reality, he's also the reason that they don't have one in this one.
