B I O G R A P H Y

Saevia had been born to a Light clan, her deep midnight scales soaking up all the warm light the Lightweaver had to offer her homeland. She enjoyed the wealth of culture in her clan, and as she got older she began to wonder about the dark land beyond the Lightweaver’s domain. She explored along the border between the Tangled Wood and the Sunbeam Ruins, brave enough to get close but never cross over on her own. Something about this part of the Tangled Wood felt… wrong. Still, it called her and she found herself returning every day, aching to garner the courage to step beyond the safe warmth of the Lightweaver’s rays.

Eventually, she plucked up enough courage to make her first forays into the shadowy forests where her goddess’ light couldn’t reach. Her scales shielded her from any wandering Light eyes, but her own were blinded by the dark as it swam all around her. Her eyes were too weak to make sense of the vague shapes in the dim glow of the bioluminescent plantlife, light and dark swirling together in a hypnotic lull. In the Sunbeam Ruins, her scales soaked up light as though she were out during a new moon, but here in the Tangled Wood she glowed with ethereal violet light. Were it not for her stumbling steps and thunderous crashing through the Wood she could pass for a native Shadow dragon.

Since then, she became taken with the Shadow territory, learning how to use her other senses to move quietly and unobserved. In the purple and black gloom the blue glow of the plants was only offset by the eerie glowing eyes of varying colors, watching Saevia’s every move as she forayed deeper into the heart of the Wood. She didn’t realize the danger of traveling off the paths that crisscrossed the Wood, not until a Gloomwillow Guide had led her astray, only to fall into a pit that went for miles. In a rush of magic, she found herself falling from the sky over the Tangled Wood and crashed through the canopy with a cacophony of snapping branches to land in a dwelling unlike any other. Dragons danced and reveled to invisible instruments, some dragons growing flowers and grass from their scales, others slowly turning to iridescent skeletons, their flesh melding smoothly through twisted Shadowbinder’s magic.

____The first dragons to approach her were Cuaroc, the clan’s founder, and Rhysenn, a dealer in dark potions and spells. They introduced her to the rest of the clan, showed her how the territory she was in now was actually unmapped territory because it technically is on no maps. Initially she tried to escape, pushed the edges of the territory only to run right back in on the opposite side. Without a way of escaping, she had to find a way to amuse herself in this strange clan, and thus learned what Shadow dragons do for fun.

____Saevia took to tricks like a Guardian to the ocean, learning all the pranks and sleight-of-paw that her clanmates could offer. The more she learned how to hide her role in a particularly devilish trick, the more quickly she began disappearing, until the only sign of her presence were telltale footprints in the soft loamy earth of the clan’s territory.

____Don’t let the shadows of the Tangled Wood mislead you and let you think that there is a dragon beneath her glowing garb and birdskull headdress. Saevia is nothing more than a mere spectre under her rich glowing garb. With glowing claw tips and a cloak that sparkles in the bleak twilight, your only sign that Saevia is approaching is the eerie blank stare of the black-feathered bird skull she dons.

____It is said that if you see the eyes of her Gloomwillow Guide, it is entirely too late for you. Saevia has mastered the art of leaping from the territory to the rest of the Tangled Wood, her invisibility gives her an advantage in slipping past whatever unseen eyes guard the thin veil that separates the Mirror Universe from the rest of Sorneith. Now not even the Shadowbinder’s Trails are safe. Saevia will find a way to lead you off them, the alluring glow of her claws and the promising light of her Guide beckon a sweet, sweet promise to never be fulfilled, leaving dragons stranded in the Tangled Wood and to the mercy of whatever beasts might find them.
