Nero
prophet

|
Nero is a cursed god looking for salvation. When he was just an egg, his father traded him to a deity of life in order to save Nero's dying mother. While it did work, there was a catch. In order for the deal to work, in order to bless his mate with life, the pain and death had to go somewhere. That somewhere was Nero in the form of a curse. The curse forbids him from touching other dragons lest he wish for their demise. It will slowly and painfully kill him and eat away at his spirit's essence until there's nothing left. Yes, it has its uses, he supposes. One touch to an enemy dragon and they're dead. Of course this has earned him titles such as "The Bright Slayer" and "Hero of the Coatl" but he hates those nicknames. He eventually fled his home and attempted to be at peace with his situation before deciding screw that and went looking for a cure. There had to be a cure, something. While he did not find a cure, he did find something that could help. His necklace, his most prized possession, was forged by a powerful group of shamans he met on his travels and blessed by a deity of protection. It keeps his feathers bright and can allow him to touch others, but it uses his own magical reserves to do so, so he has to be careful. It wasn't too long after that, that he was found by Ausha and Dak and given a home; he shouldn't have accepted, he could kill any of them with one touch, but he's selfish and didn't want to be alone anymore so he accepted their offer to stay. |

Nero now functions as one of the clan mages and the clan's reluctant prophet. He receives visions that differ in usefulness and most of the time, they make no sense. However, Nero has become adept in devising the meanings from these visions and is able to do good because of them. Though he hates having them at all. He'd always suspected that the visions were a side effect of being "blessed" by a deity. He'd never wanted these powers, but now that he has them, he might as well put them to good use. His father can choke for all he cares- that is if he isn't already dead. While Nero isn't exactly willing in his role, he does it to the best of his abilities. He refuses to do anything by halves, even if he hates it. Considering the fact that he may not have much time left, his determination is understandable, though most wouldn't know since they're oblivious to the coatl's situation. While his determination to succeed is valued most of the time by his leaders and comrades, it can be quite a problem at times as well. |

Nero is not particularly close to any of his clan mates, for obvious reasons, but he can tolerate some of them. Tiakken's gentle presence is like a balm to his permanently screaming nerves and slipping temper. He's one of the few who understand that silence is golden. With the scribe comes Yin, who is quiet and mostly stoic, but he's also funny and on the rare occasions he's actually in the lair, he's usually wherever Tiakken is. Nacro and he probably shouldn't hang out. They just help stir each other's tempers and dislike of anyone and anything in general, but sometimes he just needs to vent and be mean and Nacro can take it as well as he can dish it and while Nero knows it's not the healthiest relationship, part of him screams that at least it's a relationship, but he's fraying at the seams and doesn't really know what'd he do without the mirror to serve as a buffer against his steadily growing rage, fear and panic. It also helps that none of them are very physical, thus reducing his stress and worry about magic usage. However, due to the circumstances in which he has to use the majority of his magic, he has trained himself and his magic and is why he has grown into the powerful mage and prophet he is now. He was touched by a deity of life after all, his own element even represents life, so it's only fitting that he help said deity save lives. Pah, what a joke. He can't even save his own. |
