History of the Coven of The Shadow-walkers:

The first Mage of the Coven was a sickly little hatchling born to a clan in The Starfall Isles. She was born with black runes trailing along her sides, and her clan and parents were horrified to see what they saw as a plague present on their child. They abandoned their hatchling at The Scarred Wasteland's edge. She awoke to a place she did not recognise and she began to cry, calling for her parents, not knowing they had abandoned her. She cried and cried, until at last a soft wing surrounded her. She looked up and her crying stopped. She beheld the visage of the Shadowbearer. The Lady of Darkness held the youngling to Her body and began to croon to her. She fell asleep to the croon of the Shadowbearer, as she claimed the youngling for her own, and whisked her away to a special haven deep within her realm.
As the First grew up, she was visited often by the spirit of the Shadowbearer who taught her all the magical secrets that her 'plague' had bestowed upon her. As she grew stronger, the Lady visited her one last time, telling her that others would be joining her in the haven, and that she was to be their teacher. The Lady informed her that she would be blessing her with the knowledge needed to teach the new mages and that She would take over her body to write it all down. The First lived a long and fruitful life, and she went to join the Lady with a smile on her face and a clan of dragons who she had taught all she knew.

A short history of the tradition of solstice blessings:

Deep within The Tangled Woods, past the Forum and hidden from all save the Shadowbinder lives a coven of Mages. They are all barren due to the magic coursing through their veins and they swear their lives to the study of the Shadowbinder's dark magic. They are all marked with jet black runes by this awesome power and tend to scare other dragons due to these runes that the black magic causes. Whenever the Shadowbinder claims another mage for her own, they are given directions to the haven in a vision. The Shadowbinder considers all these Mages her priests and priestesses, often calling on them to bless her realm at the solstices. She gave the first Mage precise instructions on how to perform these blessings, and after you have read this short history they will be listed. This is the history of the Coven of the Shadow-walkers, and this is our Duty.

The rules:

1. All Mages must be involved in the blessings, or they will not work. The only exceptions are those travelling to the Haven or those too ill to perform the blessings.
2. All Mages must read and memorise the instructions on how to perform the blessings.
3. All Mages must understand that this is a divine command, and to refuse to perform the blessings is to reject the Shadowbinder and all She has blessed you with.
If you cannot accept these rules, please talk to the Head Mage and they will perform the ceremony to remove the magic from you. You will become a normal dragon again, and your memory of the whole experience in the haven and the location will be taken from you.

The ritual:

1. All Mages must gather in the sacred clearing. They must be there at least 5 hours before midnight. The latest they can be there is 3 hours before midnight.
2. Once all Mages are gathered, they must decide on a ritual master. This does not have to be the strongest or oldest mage, just the one that you all feel will do the best job. Often, the Mage picked is the one with the closest bond to the Shadowbinder, as they will be guided by Her during the ritual.
3. It does not matter how you choose to perform the blessing, you may lie down, sit or even make a cuddle pile!! The Shadowbinder decrees that all Mages must be comfortable before starting the ritual, as it takes a long time.
4 When the moon is at its zenith [midnight] you must begin to meditate on the darkness within and sink into your magical core.
5. Once you have reached your core, you must gather 90% of your magic and send it to the ritual master, who will perform the blessing with the Shadowbinder's soul present in their body.
6. Once the ritual is over, make sure to eat a good meal, drink some water and get a good night's rest.
