Sunlight

It was a sunny April day when he was born. The little hatchling had moved around inside his egg all night, the shell crackling and snapping one small piece at a time. Eventually, his parents both laid their heads next to it, too exhausted from trying to keep up.

"I think he's about to hatch", his father had said. His mother, tired and a little in disbelief, opened only the one eye. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the little spiral busted through, rolling out of his cozy shelter and into the world. The boy had not landed graciously, to both his parents' amusement, but even so he had smiled up at them.

That had settled it. His colours had made them think of the bright spring day, but it was his demeanour that had granted the young one his given name. Sunlight. And how fitting, that he had been born on the first of April after playing such a trick on his progenitors.

Still, loving them as he did, soon his parents weren't enough for Sunlight. So it was that he left his birth clan in search of different airs and, more importantly, different companions. He was an easy fit anywhere, his sunny demeanor and bright personality charming all around him.

When, inevitably, the time came for him to find a mate, it was no wonder that his sense of humour had been a winning point. Ultimately, Sunlight's not so official role in the clan is that of a jester of sorts, always bringing joy to those who need it.
