From the beginning, Vin had been destined for nothing but trouble. Even as a hatchling, he was full of mischief and had a strong desire to seek revenge on anyone he felt had wronged him. This line of thinking led to a lifestyle of negativity and manipulation, throwing together a gentleman's façade just to achieve what he wants. This façade led him to befriend the questionable healer of his home city, Malevolence, and later developing a romantic relationship with the skydancer. The two met in secret throughout their time of intimacy, until ultimately the two had offspring. An unfortunate event left the two temporarily separated and most of their hatchlings unaccounted for, save for Varwyn. Vin seemed ultimately unaffected by the tragedy. It wasn't long until a string of arguments led to the couple's downfall. Entrusting Malevolence with the sole care of their remaining child, Vin set off to seek others that shared his ideals. Off-put by his questionable behavior, Malevolence inquired about Vin's health, concerned about shade affliction. Vin assured her that, regardless of whether his body was tainted or not, it didn't matter. He was setting off in pursuit of similar minds either way, and she couldn't do anything to stop him. Vin's misdeeds followed him everywhere he went, and he did nothing to prevent more from piling up on his reputation. Eventually, Vin crossed paths with several individuals willing to intertwine their fates with his, and created a group dedicated to spreading the ideals of understanding the Shade and the shade-touched—a group which he called the Accolades. While he seems close with Fane, Atlas, and Gain, it's not a stretch at all to believe he's using them for his own selfish benefits. No one is entirely sure of the end goal Vin has in mind, and it's safe to assume that no one truly wants to find out.
