Fane has always possessed different world views than the average dragon. He dreamed of one day understanding the shade, and never particularly gave the flights' deities much thought. He left his former home in search of someone who understood his beliefs, perhaps even sharing them, and his travels brought him to Vin.

The two became fast friends, sharing their thoughts on the shade and other beliefs they found they had in common. Vin proposed the idea of a group he referred to as the Accolades, devoted to understanding and researching the shade and its effects on dragons. This idea intrigued Fane, though he initially found the proposal to be a bit sketchy. However, given that Vin had already gathered accompaniment in the form of Zerri, Fane didn't think it was too bad of an idea. After all, Vin had already found other dragons willing to join, so it couldn't do much harm.

Since then, Fane had become Vin's right hand, as they shared quite a few personality traits. He was trusted to take things over during times when Vin was absent. With a no-nonsense attitude, Fane is exceptionally good at both spreading ideas of the Accolades and recruiting new members. While his demeanor is seemingly quite cold, his heart is full of nothing but passion for the things he believes in.
