Petra is the eldest of Kaisho's children, a granddaughter of the clan's leaders. As a hatchling, she always played too roughly with her brother and asserted dominance over any dragon she met, and expressed no desire to follow rules. After a tragedy involving her brother, Petra is not allowed to wander unsupervised, save for short ventures. Her success as an exalt was questioned due to her disregard for order, but her mother and the leader agreed that her ruthlessness would make her a fine Coliseum warrior.

Petra learned to work with her fellow warriors, Leviathan and Sylvanas, and was the first of the three to master Eliminate. She is now in the process of training her fellow Lupines; an elite group of wolf-pelted warriors that serve as both Coliseum warriors and clan protectors. Petra has a nerve condition that blocks her ability to feel pain, which is dangerous for a dragon known to throw herself into battle with reckless abandon. She will often sustain serious injuries that need attended to, but not stop battling because it does not hurt, and then passes out from blood loss. Because of this, Petra does not have the capacity to empathize with others who do experience pain. She isn't intentionally mean or violent, nor is she exactly manipulative - she just does not grasp the concept of pain (or emotion, really), and exhibits high levels of impulsivity and indulgence because ramifications are rarely considered. She's had violent tendencies her entire life, but has managed to contain herself with age and help. She still doesn't understand why it’s necessary.

Her temperament has lead her to into more than a few battles that have gotten her scarred and scraped up - her torn wings give her troubles when attempting to fly, and as a result her flight muscles have weakened substantially. She lost two toes on her forepaw in battle, but let it grow infected to the point that Markelle, the clan healer, had to amputate her entire paw. Peridot, the clan's engineer, worked along with Markelle to form Petra a prosthetic foot and a nearly identical glove to fit on her other paw, so that she wouldn't be targeted in battle because of weakness (Petra argued that it would be more fun that way - a nasty surprise for opponents).

RELATIONSHIPS

Ambriel and Kaisho formed quite a strong bond upon first meeting—Ambriel and her “sisters,” Nisha and Markelle, were among the first outsiders to join the fledgeling clan. The pair had hatchlings young, but after tragedy struck, Ambriel and Kaisho split. At this point, Kaisho established the clan’s guard, as the growing population and territory needed some deal of protection. In time, Kaisho and Ambriel mended their relationship, and their bond is stronger than ever.

Warsaw is Kaisho’s deputy, who met the Mirror in the Coliseum while perfecting his archery. Kaisho is skilled with a blade and Warsaw with a bow, but both had little experience in physical combat. They became regular sparring partners, and Kaisho invited the Nocturne to join the clan. They remain close friends, and Warsaw is more of an acting guard captain now that Kaisho oversees clan diplomacy and border policies.

Petra is the “tragedy” that nearly ruined her parents’ relationship. Out of a nest of four, only two survived—Petra and her brother, Zula. However, when they were hatchlings, Petra accidentally drowned Zula in the surf because she did not understand his cries for help. Ambriel defended Petra, while Kaisho wanted her exalted; a dragon with her disregard for order and ruthlessness would make a fine warrior for the Tidelord, and he would have preferred not to see the dragon who killed his son every day. Kaisho forgave his daughter in time, and despite her violence, he admires her unmatched fighting prowess. Petra does not remember anything, and it is a ferociously-guarded secret in the clan.

» General Trivia: Petra wears her prosthetic claws on both forepaws full-time, even when sleeping. Younger clan members don't even know which paw is missing, and are too terrified to ask. It is a well-guarded secret, but when Petra was a hatchling, she accidentally drowned her brother Zula (the only other hatchling in the clutch who was not stillborn) during a play-fight because she did not understand his cries for help. She is not allowed around hatchlings under any circumstances. It very nearly caused a split between her parents (Ambriel defended Petra, whilst Kaisho wanted her exalted), but Kaisho forgave her in time. Petra does not remember any of this. Despite being one of the eldest clan members, Petra seldom travels alone.
