The Ever-Autumn Woods are beautiful and welcoming to all by day,

but night is a different story.

Sam is one of an elite few dragons who patrol the forest at night, keeping the most unkind of spirits at bay, finding and guiding lost travelers to safety, and burying those unlucky enough to have never made it out alive.

With her lanterns glowing like a beacon, Sam specializes in the latter two aspects of her work.

She is an expert, but it doesn't mean she's never come close to death.
However, this was at the hands of a shade-riddled dragon, rather than any forest spirit.

It was this incident that prompted Lady Pepper to hire shade cleansers to be assigned to the forest, but at the time, there were few on hand who could help her.

It was Amaryllis, traveling peddler and longtime friend, who dropped everything to stay with her until she successfully recovered from her injuries.

During that time, the two realized they were happiest together, and later became mates.
