There are tales of a dragon known as the Wendigo.
At first, it is a kind spirit that guides lost dragons to safety.
But no one knows it is the Wendigo until it dons its hideous guise.
It carries a mask, the worst taxidermy possible-- a bonepicker skull with teeth grafted on to its beak, giving it a crooked, wicked grin. Antlers sharpened to dagger-like points top its head. Its feet are said to be stained with the blood of those that crossed it. The blood seeps upward into its fur, infusing it with some power... or the blood seeps into the shapes of ancient letters.
It commands a Nightmare, which it sends into the dreams of those suffering from... well, nightmares. It devours the bad dreams and tells the dragon to leave an offering for the Wendigo-- cinnamon sticks and pieces of bones and flowers from other regions.
The Wendigo will only don its mask when threatened or crossed. And that horrid grin is the last they see before the skull rams into them with enough force to give a concussion and knife-like horns tear through their bellies like mere paper.
