Every day, Matcha was catering to the thirst of dragons within the Gladehaven Clan. Drinks for him, drinks for her, drinks all around! For such a massive dragon, Matcha was impressively precise with his craft, far more delicate than most Imperials come across as. It was a quaint past-time for him, but a delicious one nonetheless.
Originating from the Sunbeam Ruins, Matcha was not one for scrolls and books -- truly, he was a creator, but found satisfaction in the temporary artistry of food and drink. To see a dragon in awe as they see and taste his work brought him great joy. Due to his differing interests, he left his homeland for somewhere as green as the tea shade he bore on his body: the Viridian Labyrinth. Here, Matcha found a clan filled with bakers, cooks, and artistic connoisseurs! He felt immediately at home. He found a solid place within the family of foodie artisans, and became known as the clan's barista. He loved the title -- he could share his drinks from leader Sarihlle to the littlest Celeste, and leave none parched or dissatisfied. Though he prefers not to stand up shop by the trading post, he's more than happy to treat each visitor to the Clan with a drink! Of all the crafts that Matcha practiced, tea making was his favorite. Once in the Viridian Labyrinth, he began to grow some of his own tea plants, just to have the wholesome experience of creating tea from start to finish. His personal collection of teas was impressive, to say the least; in his spare time, it would be very likely to find Matcha pouring himself a cup of tea, or offering some to a stressed dragon in need. Matcha holds to the ideology of "Three Cups of Tea." The first cup of tea he gives to a stranger; the second cup of tea he gives to a friend; the third cup of tea he gives to family. He doesn't mention this ideology out loud, however; it's for himself to cherish when he bonds with new dragons. Those who ask about or already know of three cups of tea will easily be able to tell when Matcha holds someone in fond regard. _ |

Many visitors come and go from Clan Gladehaven, but every so often, one or two of them may stay here for a home. For those who wish to stay and chat, Matcha will provide a cup of tea. He is thrilled to hear the stories of strangers; where they are from, what they have done, and where they seek to go. But sometimes, these simple chats can lead to greater bonds in the future. This was especially the case for a fellow Imperial named Polaris. Polaris and a Fae then known as Bloodstone came to Gladehaven together from the Sunbeam Ruins; Bloodstone seemed likely to leave soon, but surprisingly, Polaris came to stay. At first glance, those who came to greet the two dragons did not expect Polaris to take residence here; yet when Matcha saw a warm gleam in his icy eyes, he knew there was more to Polaris than meets the eye. It contrasted his appearance — Polaris came across as stoic, and a bit cold, at first. Perhaps it was a remnant of the icy lands he originated from. Nonetheless, Matcha was not dissuaded, and cordially offered both the Imperial and the Fae a cup of tea each. “A warm welcome to the both of you. I am Matcha,” he introduced. “Please, come sit, and enjoy a fresh brew of tea.” Mildly shocked, the new Imperial responded with a nod and his name, “Polaris.” Regardless, he was very grateful for the kind gesture, and sipped from the porcelain cup. “Tell me, where are you from?” Matcha inquired, curious to learn more about this enigmatic individual. Polaris, reserved, spoke shortly. “I just arrived from the Sunbeam Ruins,” he answered. His words were mildly awkward, nervous. He wasn’t used to such a pleasant scenario as this. “As did I,” Matcha responded, looking directly at Polaris to show off his golden eyes. Surprisingly, Polaris perked up at this. Though he could tell Polaris wasn’t in the mood for much conversation so shortly after his arrival, Matcha felt a ping in his chest — something of a signal, a gut feeling that told him Polaris was someone he’d like to get to know. So, with only a few small words, Matcha attempted to get to know a little more about his past. Through smalltalk, the two of them found a common interest in cooking; Polaris was a chef, while Matcha worked with drinks. Matcha knew that his gut feeling was right, but didn’t want to press more than he had already. “I think you deserve some rest, Polaris. Your journey must have been tiring. However, do come back for tea soon — I’d love to learn more about you,” he admitted with a playful tone. “Yes— I should,” Polaris nodded, appearing flustered. “Have a good night.” He turned and left to find a place to rest as guided by others in the clan. Matcha was satisfied from their interaction. He thought him to be a curious fellow, and knew his gut feeling was right. Polaris’ fluster was not a bad feeling — the more he got to know him, the easier Matcha could read Polaris. He felt the two of them would get along just fine. |
