Stamukhi bent over his books, quill in claw. The columns aligned and the number at the bottom of the scroll was positive. It was a good month, and Stamukhi was happy. He glanced up for half a moment when the curator wandered into his tent. It wasn’t Ček’s fault that he always smelled like an expensive request. “Don’t tell me…” Stamukhi closed his eyes. “Replacement broadsword because Iacchus tried to help Enchantress. And Cruor distributed the last of our medicinals because someone sneezed near them.” Ček chuckled. “I don’t come bearing bad news for once.” Stamukhi’s eyes popped open. “Oh? Well, that’s a first… let me make a note.” He didn’t make a note, though his fascination with numbers wasn’t limited to counting treasure. “It should make you happy to know, though, we would be well able to afford replacements.” “Hm…” Ček pondered. “That’s a first, too. What say we celebrate?” Stamukhi blinked. Celebrate. That was typically for hatchdays and festivals, wasn’t it? Unless Stamukhi severely miscalculated, it was still spring in the Year of Waves. No celebration until summer. Ček laughed. “Celebrate, Stam! Can’t let the warriors have all the fun all the time, now, can we? Us numbers and letters dragons have to stay together.” “Right…” Stamukhi agreed, rising. He ducked his head obsequiously, and smiled at his friend. “Together over a good lager, then. Your treat?” With a good natured grin, Ček nodded. “Of course.” He always paid, actually… but who was counting? |

Stamukhi, called “Stam” by his friends, had a healthy ambition as a young Tundra. Hailing from an Ice clan in the Frigid Floes, the son of two wealthy merchants, he learned early to make his own way. He traveled with Tundra herds as he crossed the continent in search of wealth, always welcomed among his furry brethren. His stable ambition found him set up with a mate, not unpleasantly. He agreed, since it was a beneficial relationship for both himself and Shuga. Their mutual affection can be called nothing but love, but they agree their lives are better lived in the community herd life afforded by other Tundras. Being more cerebral than the average Tundra, Stamukhi found an uncommon fit in the company of a group of genius Tundras led by a particularly narcissistic one named Mere. With Stam’s computational skills and Shuga’s penchant for organization, they traveled with Mere and his band of ruin-runners for some time before settling in with the Tempest Chase. When Shuga fell in rather closely with another Tundra in the herd, Stam didn’t begrudge her happiness. After all, to a Tundra, all the herd is family. Regardless of the friends they’ve made, Stamukhi and Shuga are too similar and friendly with one another to not stay together. Stamukhi is, after all, a very likeable dragon and has designs to see the world and grow his nest egg while he does. Stamuhki is able to easily joke about a Tundra’s lack of visual recognition and tries his best to explain what it is like with only his nose to rely on. Newcomers with questions about relating to their Tundra clanmates find Stamukhi a comfortable dragon to ask. Though Stamukhi is most interested in keeping his clan solvent and his own investments profitable, he has several other hobbies that he uses mostly to relate to the other dragons in the clan. When not enjoying a stiff drink with his fellows in the clan, he brews them. As a confirmed Ice dragon, Stamukhi knows, perhaps better than dragons of other Flights, that most things only improve with age. |

Only his grandfather called him Stamukhi. » » Stamukhi’s best friend, outside of Shuga, is the curator of the Tempest Chase, Ček. They keep in touch. » » Given his mate Shuga’s very close relationship with another Tundra, Radek, most dragons assume that Stamukhi and Radek do not get along at all when, in fact, treat one another more like in-laws. Stamukhi even writes to Radek from time to time, as he’d never had a better drinking buddy. |
