Biography

Leliana knew she was destined for adventure. Here natural curiosity would never let her sit still. She had to be out there in the Labyrinth, doing something, learning something. She used to climb trees and pretend she was the first to ever attempt it, giving herself a running commentary as she did, much to the amusement of her nestmates.

Then, she'd found the watch. It was an old rusted thing, barely working. Something from the old world, she was told.

"It's rubbish" her clanmates said. "Just melt it down and we'll do something decent with it."

That was fair. She would likely have followed through, too, but curiosity got the best of her once again. She wanted to see the clock face. Just once, it wasn't as though she needed a timepiece, after all.

It wouldn't open. She bashed it off rocks, scraped it with her claws, even convinced her Berserker to have a go with it's axe, but it still wouldn't open.

She began to despair. There was some mystery inside it, she just knew. Some great secret that was being kept from her. She had to know it. She worked like one possessed, travelling further and further from the lair in search of something that might open her prize.

Curiosity, as they say, killed the cat.

One day, she found herself straying into Dragonhome. She didn't notice at first; there was still some grass between her claws, and it had rained recently so the earth was still soft. But a longneck patrol noticed her well enough.

Soon she was fleeing for her life, vastly outnumbered and tiring fast from a deep gash in her shoulder, and a burn across her side. She ran into a cave, down, down, until there was no where else to go. She turned, terrified, but prepared to make a final stand, and the watch, resting in a little pouch against her shoulder, clicked open.

She never knew what, eventually, opened it. She never saw the clockface, either. But she felt the warmth of the magic, trapped so long in it's metal case, sweep over her. It sank into her wings and chest, healing her burns and bruises, until she felt able to flap and kick and rage her way out of the cave and back into the light. Her newfound strength saw her into the air and flying back to her clan faster than ever before, only letting her collapse with exhaustion hours later, when she was safe and her remaining wounds had been seen to, amongst many exclamations of shock and wonder.

Her wings were different, now. Stained, some said. Blessed, said others. Strong as stone, and ringed like agate, her first wounds are preserved forever on her skin. She takes it as a sign. No matter how desperate a situation, she tells her clanmates, now, there's always a way out.
