Biography

Sunset

Uh-oh, looks like this soft girl wandered a little too far from her home lair (whamm, #63678), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here, or to the hub if you don't want another dragon in return. Please refrain from exalting her!

I wanted to journey the world, but didn't get very far! I made it to Nature territory and was so entranced by all the beautiful plants, I decided to stay a while. Actually, those plants were so interesting, that I've decided to keep clippings of the plants I enjoy the most in this diary!

After a time I decided to leave Nature territory and return home to Light territory. While there I joined a clan living in one of the great libraries at Lanternlea Port. It was the perfect place to do more botanical research!

While researching some samples of amber algae, something unexpected happened. My crackled markings lifted up and suddenly began to sparkle! This was definitely an unintended consequence. Despite my precautions, did I somehow ingest some of the algae? Why did it have this effect? It was time to travel the world (for real this time!) to conduct some research!

Maybe I can find answers to my questions, or just observe the effects other plants have on those around them!

The first thing I noticed upon landing in shadow territory was the fact the plants were far different here. While the other places I've been have bright plants, the shadow territory has rather dark colored plants. But I'm so excited to learn about them! I followed a pathway lit by lanterns, looking at each and every piece of flora I could on the way. They were all so fascinating! Upon entering the Village of Hollowshade, I was speechless. The light source was provided by luminescence - found in the different sized fungi that dotted the terrain. It was absolutely beautiful and I knew then and there I just had to learn more about them!

I began my descent deeper into the village, taking in the sights and sounds of so many different things at once. The fragrant smell of flowers had caught my attention and I followed them, finding another Coatl at the end of it's trail. I stared in awe for a moment at the flowers that adorned her delicate butterfly wings, blending in with the green petals that were already apparent on her. When she caught me staring, she gave a soft smile and introduced herself as Serenity, the village's botanist and florist.

During my stay, I stuck to Serenity's side like glue, she seemed to appreciate the company. As she taught me of the different flora native to the Shadowbinder's Domain, I learned of how her mate was cursed to be silent. I promised her that I would keep an ear out and send her a letter if I found anyone who could help. After a few days, I decided I learned all I could and was ready for the next place in my travels (wherever that may be). Serenity and I had a tearful farewell and she had given me the Umbra Parthenium I have pressed into this journal.

I was too intrigued with the flora here in the Shadow Domain that I found another clan nearby. They also resided in the same area as the last clan I camped with... the clan cleared out a lot of the mushrooms inside their clan though.

they seemed to grow a lot of normal plants, using special lamps to imitate the sun, choosing to leave behind the glowing mushrooms I quickly asked the clan leader to borrow a lamp to try and grow my own plants. I set off to my temp home to set up and figure out if the plants grown here are any different than the plants that grow under the actual sun...

I spent a lot of my time watching and making notes about the plants growing under the special lamps, I couldn't figure out what made the lamps special but they couldn't be any normal lamps that was for sure. All anyone could really tell me was they were some form of led.

when it was my time to go I didn't find a difference between the lamp grown plants and plants that grew under the sun... sadly I didn't get to exactly meet anyone new, well besides Femur she was a guard who was sent out with me when I went to explore, we chatted a bit she was curious about my travels, I told her what I seen and where I have been. I learned a bit about the clan leader, her story is very interesting.

It had just occurred to me that during my time in the Sunbeam Ruins, I never did investigate the Hewn City or its plant life! The Hewn City unfortunately didn't have much in the way of flora, mainly dry grass. I made a more fortunate discovery in a den, however. A handsome and hungry Wildclaw came out to greet me! He and I talked for a bit as I admired our surroundings. We even had a son and a daughter! But there wasn't enough to study for me to justify staying in the Hewn City for long, so I must part with my new friend...unless?

Randy was happy to come with me on my travels!
Our next stop was to the traveler's hub in the Wind Flight. It was such a stunning city! And the Inn was lovely! There, I chatted for a long time with the groundskeeper, Macaron. For a time, he had traveled, gathering plants as well. He pointed out the various ones he had transplanted and propogated here in wind, and shared some star moss with me. It was originally from arcane, but seeing as moss is pretty tolerant to traveling, he said it should take just fine anywhere I may plant it in the future. Now it seems it is time to go again, and I can't wait to see more!

Unfortunately, Plague territory has little in the way of plant life...after much sleuthing, I did manage to find a beautiful Carnaval tulip! It was so small and underdeveloped, but it was the only flower I could find besides the suffocating marsh chokers, so I took it along with me. Maybe it'll grow better in a different habitat.

The dragons - well, the inhabitants - here were very strange. I was frightened, but as it turns out not all of them were inhospitable. Poor Randy's pride is so great, he choked down some of their questionable food just to prove he could! It was funny to watch, but I sure hope it wasn't harmful...

Plants I've collected so far...
