Swordbreaker is a legend by himself.
The brute suffers from gembond—that much is obvious. He is, like many others, rarely seen, but this past tells a greater story.
Swordbreaker cannot fly due to the gembond—it weighs him down far to much. His wings are stunted, crippled things laden with stone, but the rest of him is strong. He does not know his own strength. He must be strong. The late stages of gembond are devastating. The stones pierce skin and infect muscles. They cause fatigue. No matter how hard the dragon tears and pries, the gems do not break. Swordbreaker boasts scars from trying to remove gembond himself. It is a casing of armor no one asks for.
He might as well make use of it. Swordbreaker was a famous mercenary in the Lightning clans for his invincibility. No claw nor fang nor sword could pierce his tough hide. A clout from a gem-laden tail could fell most foes.
No one is sure how he ended up in the Crags. Some say the witch Grym hired him to guard against... something. Or that Silvetongue whispered her honeyed words to him and convinced him to come. She had hired his service long ago, and the two became close partners, in more ways than one.
