Evelyn has led an interesting life. Before she was even hatched she was taken from her birth clan by a raiding group of Beastclan warriors. The leader of the centaur group decided to keep the egg and allow it to hatch, curious to see if having a dragon among their ranks would help them with their cause. The moment the dragon was hatched she was given a ceremonial welcome. The herd sire of the centaur group adorned the young Coatl with antlers to show strength and he gave her a name to show nurturing - Evelyn. When she was a few months old, more of a juvenile dragon than a true hatchling, she was then given a chance to bond with a young Ragamouse that had been born on the same day as she was. The centaur herd, knowing of dragon culture, deemed this as her familiar, her spirit companion.
In the herd Evelyn never really had a job. At least she didn’t think she did. While raised by the entire herd, it was mostly the herd sire and the herd dam that raised and taught her what she knows. The herd sire taught her the basics of fighting, something she didn’t really enjoy all that much. She at least became efficient enough in fighting to scare off a group of leafy moths. On the other hand, the herd dam taught Evelyn how to care for the young and the old, taught her how to cook and how to plan for important events - these were the things Evelyn really found interesting and grew to enjoy. Most of her time was spent with the herd dam where she learned the more domestic activities of life, and while she learned a wide assortment of tasks, Evelyn grew more attentive to baking and festival planning. As she grew older her skills in these two tasks grew more advanced; by the time she was a year and a half she was cooking up all sorts of wonderful meals and creating terrific parties for festivals. While the herd sire had hoped for Evelyn to become a warrior and fight alongside his herd when they went into battle, his love for her outweighed his dreams for her and he allowed the Coatl to follow down the path of what she loved doing.
Another year went by. The herd had done its fair share of raiding nearby clans, but there had never been any casualties. At most there had been a few wounded that had promptly been taken care of by the herd’s healer. That had all changed on a night of the new moon; a large clan of mostly Guardians, Imperials, and Wildclaws ambushed the herd in the dead of the night. The poor guards on watch that night were the first to be slaughtered, their blood only the first to be spilled. Evelyn was fast asleep among her herd when the first shouts were heard. The moment the shouts were heard was the moment everything blurred for the young Coatl.
She took her dear familiar and ran to hide; in her fright she could only think of one thing - to hide. But even though she tried to hide, things didn’t go as planned. On her way to hide she was intercepted by a massive Imperial, his fangs and talons glistening with the blood of Evelyn’s fellow herdmates. The Imperial shot forward, grabbing Evelyn by the wing with his jaws. The Imperial shook the Coatl, tearing and shredding muscle and ligaments too fragile to ever be repaired. On a lucky struggle Evelyn was able to claw the other dragon’s nose, causing the Imperial to throw her down. Bleeding and injured, Evelyn was no match for the Imperial. He was able to recover much faster than the younger dragon, rushing forward and snapping his fangs right through the bone of Evelyn’s right back leg. Besides intolerable pain and the sound of a horrendous snap, Evelyn remembers nothing more during the battle.
She awoke with a throbbing headache. A blurry light dangled above her as a soft whisper somewhat soothed the ache in her cranium. Evelyn felt stiff, sore, but mentally she was numb. Nothing was making sense. She felt like she was just there. The Coatl fell back asleep; the next time she woke up she was more mentally aware of her surroundings. She realized she was in a cave, three shivering silhouettes in front of her. Evelyn tried to get up, but when she did, a set of gentle hands brought her back down. The herd healer’s voice came to the Coatl, telling her a watered down version of what all happened; that was when she realized that, along with herself and the healer, the three shapes in front of her were all that remained of her herd. The herd sire died at the very end of the battle. The herd dam managed to make it out alive, but she had been badly wounded. Luckily the healer was able to keep her alive along with two younger members of the herd. Now it was just them. They were without a true herd and their home was more than likely occupied by the dragons that had attacked them. The small group had nowhere to go.
Alone and with nowhere to go, the group of four started to look for somewhere to make a makeshift camp until they were healed enough; already living in the Zephry Steps, it wasn’t unusual to run into clans of Wind dragons. What was unusual, however, was that they ran into a small group of dragons that came from an Ice clan. Having visited an allied clan in the Wind territory, the group made up of a Nocturne, Skydancer, Imperial, and Wildclaw ran into the small group of three centaurs and a Coatl. Immediately the Ice group noticed the state in which the other group was in; they introduced themselves as part of the Skylight clan and told them that their matriarch, Vetus, would allow them to stay and would offer protection over them. Even if some were weary, this was an offer they couldn’t refuse.
Off they went to the Southern Icefields. Evelyn was well taken care of by the clan’s healer along with the centaurs. Eventually they decided to stay, finding that this clan was strong yet humble, the kind of home they needed. Evelyn, despite her wing injury and not being able to fly and her missing a limb, became a crucial part of the clan as a cook and even grew close to Shepherd and now helps him in preparing the clan for upcoming festivals. The three centaurs were also more than welcomed and have grown to become important to the clan as well, helping on border patrols and whatnot. The group of four became part of a large clan where they are loved and care for, but never will they forget their original home and herd.

Despite what has happened to her in the past, Evelyn is still quite the cheerful little dragon. Nothing really brings her down. She's bright and happy just about all the time, the kind of dragon one needs to go to when a smile needs to be put on their face. Evelyn, despite being three-limbed and flightless now, is just an overall happy-go-lucky Coatl with nothing but happiness to give to the world. Sure, she has her moments when she has nightmares of the attack, but she has entire clan to keep her safe from the night terrors - Shepherd and Ribbon especially help her when she has one of her moments. Luckily they are rare, happening perhaps every few months. Evelyn is also a very considerate dragoness. She is careful not to hurt others or to bring pain upon a clanmate. Without a second thought does she put others before herself, wanting to be there for others. Evelyn does take care of herself and her own emotions, but she makes sure to care for others first whether it be by talking, cuddling, or baking something sweet.
