     RETAINER TO PRINCE VIO Red is a dragon from the outer border of the abiding boneyard. Forsaken by his clan for being too soft, too gentle, he found himself wandering alone in one of the most dangerous places in Sornieth. Between the sickness that smeared the place, the exposure to the elements, and the lack of clean food and water, Red was certain that he was going to die, alone and unremarkable. Crawling as far as he could, he made it to the edge of the wandering contagion. He was just about ready to give in when two imperials found him: a prince and his retainer. They were here for research, to gather materials, but when they found the tiny coatl on the brink of death, they stopped what they were doing and brought him home. There they tended to him and nursed him back to health. Red is ever grateful to the two, and as such, pledged himself as Vio's second retainer- a job he handles with pride and dignity. Though still gentle and kind, he works tirelessly to better himself in every way that he can. He fights, he gathers, he helps Vio pen his books out and organize his time. Red is the voice of reason and the mothering hand when Vio is too buried in his own work. He makes sure Vio is eating and sleeping properly, and that he's happy and moving about. He’s incredibly in love with both Vio and Shadow. It was a warmth that sparked in him the first day they met- Vio and Shadow were the first dragons to have ever shown him kindness. From there on, that spark flickered into a roaring flame, one that subsides him. Red is fiercely happy to be alive, to be able to love and share his happiness with others. He’s very glad to be in the relationship he’s in, as well- and he’s constantly reminding his partners by peppering them with kisses and sweet words. In general, Red is an extremely amicable dragon. He gets along well with almost everyone, and is always assuming the best in others. He's a bit touchy when it comes to talking about where he came from and life before his service, but other than that he's as polite as can be. He especially loves hatchlings. He loves to play and wrestle with them and hates to see them exalted young. He's actually hand-reared quite a few adopted children, some of his own admonition and some because the Prince insisted upon taking them on. He's especially attached to Thistle, an egg he found while scavenging in the Wandering Contagion, and most recently, the banescale mercenary Byleth has glued himself to him. |
