Once, many years ago, the Caravan was a peaceful place. But war came to them, and they fought. Entire clans were lost in the fight, and hundreds fell to the armies of the south. Then, the war ended and peace slowly returned to the Caravan. That was what her parents told Cyra- that the war was over. Yet the skies of her youth seemed empty, and the forests around the lagoon heavily patrolled. If this was what peace looked like, then how did war look?

A product of her upbringing, Cyra is a skilled warrior like dozens of others children in the Caravan. Some didn’t take her seriously. Too pretty, they said. Too gentle looking. Then she would open her mouth and show everyone she was her father’s daughter. Her father is an almost Emperor with too many limbs, teeth, mouths, and antlers. Cyra inherited some of his illness. Her mouth is too big, too long, too wide, with far too many teeth. Her jaw seems to stretch all the way to the back of her head, and when she opens her mouth, it opens terrifyingly, unnaturally wide.

She uses it to her advantage, now. Others look at her and see a gentle Nature dragon, pretty and docile, with soft, demure speech. They find out the hard way that her gentleness is only skin deep. Beneath that facade, Cyra is a horror. She usually barely speaks above a whisper, but when she shows herself for who she truly is, her voice is layered, as if she has many mouths and tongues speaking in unison. When she speaks her true speech, she can hypnotize those of weak will or those caught unaware, and lure them to their doom, putting their head inside her too-wide mouth...
