Biography

Tango is many things: a hopeless romantic, a powerful scientist, a pracitician of ethically-questionable alchemy. She brewed the potion that caused Cloudtail to grow fluffy antenna, in the hopes that it would aid in his communication with their ever monotonous clan leader, Myura. Tango has some pretty sadistic tendencies though, and will gleefully test her brews on anyone she can get her claws on, willing or otherwise -- she'll force her brews and serums on any dragon, whether they're rendered unconscious beforehand, had a little bit slipped into their food and drink, or blatantly lied to about what the potions would do to their bodies. She has no respect for the feelings and emotions of others (despite the fact that her antennae give her full readability of them), and finds sick humour in instilling pain and discomfort in them.

Some of her unhappy customers include Gendra, Kane, Wisteria, and Steele.

Dragons Tango has been (deservedly) beaten up by include the aforementioned Gendra and Tieg.

Given she's a very hopeless romantic, Tango has nested with a few dragons before, and found that none of them were to her liking. In reality, this has been incredibly disheartening for her, but she remains optimistic that one day, she will find the perfect mate for herself. Given how love is nothing more than a chemical reaction in the brain, however, she's pondered before if she could ever brew herself her perfect mate...

Unfortunately, at least until she finds a way to truly win the trust (maybe even respect) of the clan leader, Myura, she won't even be able to attempt this experiment. Myura constantly barges into Tango's work when she deems an experiment "morally wrong": however, Tango believes the real reason Myura does this is because she's very anti-Plague dragon, blaming them for the fate of her husband. She's partially right, but there's also the fact that dissecting another dragon's brain to get a sample of their hormones is really screwed up.

As of Mojack's curing, both of his zombie contagion and then later on of his Shade corruption, Myura and Tango have gotten along a lot better. Myura still finds Tango's attempts at creating life... hideous and offensive, but she holds some level of gratitude towards Tango for the medicinal cure that they brewed together. They still wouldn't call each other friends, that's for sure. But there's some level of amicableness and mutual understanding that wasn't there before.

It took a while for Tango to figure out the real reason she had so much trouble keeping a stable relationship with a male dragon; however, it wasn't too long after meeting the vampire Fae Asane that she felt comfortable coming out as a lesbian. Now she's very happy with her tiny girlfriend, and while she's continuing to hunt for a recipe to create a living, breathing dragon from scratch, it's more out of morbid curiosity and a desire for fame than to create a perfect husband.

Despite her being canonically lesbian, I still breed Tango on occasion. This is only because she's one of my few fully gem-gened dragons that doesn't have an obscenely long breeding cooldown, has a nice colour palette that lends itself well to lots of my males, and has a lineage that doesn't trace back to Imriel or Livewire at any point (squints at Nauta). None of her children born after Lenore are canonically hers, unless specifically stated otherwise.

Wisteria wrote:
Wisteria perched gently on a towering stalk of bamboo, admiring the beauty of the Wind domain one last time before she took off on adventure once again. She had spent far too long in this lair, even if she had made many friends during her stay, and her wings were aching to send her travelling again. Wind gusting against her face and billowing through her mane, Wisteria launched into the air and grew distant from the Wind flight.

Not too far into her flight, Wisteria caught a dark, tiger-striped Nocturne soaring behind her, just out of the corner of her eye. She didn't pay him much attention at first, but she grew more and more wary of his presence as he tagged along behind her, no matter what turn she took. Finally, she turned her head to him to bark, "Why are you still following me?!"

The only response Wisteria got was the Nocturne slamming headfirst into her, sending them both tumbling into the dry, sun-baked land of the Light domain. Wisteria landed harshly on her wing, twisting it and injuring it badly; no way would she be able to fly away now. The Nocturne bounded over to her, slashing his claws across her face and into her torso. She screeched harshly, startling her attacker and causing him to jump back in alarm, directly into a splash of chemicals from a mysterious dragon behind him. The Nocturne roared in pain and flew away from the scene, aggressively rubbing his swollen-shut, watering eyes.

Wisteria looked up gratefully at the dragon who had defended her; a cyan, crystalline Skydancer, who held a now-empty flask of chemicals in her gloved talons. "Well, my highly-concentrated biosynthetic capsaicin seems to have been pretty successful," she mused happily to herself. Glancing down at the injured Pearlcatcher, her eyes widened as she said in a panicked tone, "Oh no, those wounds look serious! Here, I'll get you back to my lair where we can get those treated."

Arm slung over the Skydancer's shoulder, Wisteria scrunched up her nose as she realized her rescuer reeked of chemicals up close; she turned her head to the side and tried to breathe through her mouth as they hobbled through the city of ruins.

"My name is Tango; I'm a well-known alchemist around these parts." The Skydancer finally said, breaking the silence. "You're lucky I found you when I did; who knows what would've happened if somebody hadn't stopped that Nocturne."

After a while of walking, the duo of dragons finally came to a suspicious pile of rocks in the relatively barren plains. Tango swept them to the side, revealing a wooden door covering a burrow that led deep underground. "This is my hidey-hole, where I conduct all of my experiments. You can spend the night here; I'll dress your wounds for you and brew you a healing potion to make them recover faster." Wisteria gave her the widest grin she could manage with her injured face, and thanked her quietly. The two made their way into the burrow, and the Pearlcatcher now had to cover her snout to block the overwhelming stench of Tango's recent brew.

The alchemist Skydancer led Wisteria through the spiralling burrow into her den; it was a wide room, with a cauldron full of frothy, green liquid in the center, countless flasks containing viscous fluids filling the shelves on the walls, a giant tray of what looked to be medical equipment next to the cauldron, and a large, frayed cushion in the corner of the room. Tango gestured to the cushion, and Wisteria reluctantly laid down on it; it had a foul stink to it, much like the rest of the room, but it was quite comfortable. While Wisteria made herself at home, Tango filled a small glass with the latest creation from her cauldron. "It's a health potion... don't make that face at it, I promise it'll help your injuries," she said in a bored tone, offering the drink to her disgusted Pearlcatcher guest.

Wisteria was revolted at the drink's putrid smell, but she didn't seem to have any better options: she reluctantly downed the potion, and right away, she could feel the injuries across her face begin to heal over. She smiled graciously at Tango, and the Skydancer grinned back with the most emotion Wisteria had ever seen from her. She understood why the alchemist seemed so maniacally happy when she offered her a mirror; thick magenta scales had grown over her wounds, stretching across her face and now, her torso as well! She watched in horror as scales all over her body pulled up, became that same discoloured magenta, and thickened.

"What did you do to me?! What was in that potion?!" She screamed, her voice full of terror. The alchemist scoffed at her and growled, "I don't know why you're making such a big deal of it. Those scales look beautiful on you, and your wounds are all healed now -- not only that, but you've also helped me test my first successful cosmetic potion!"

Wisteria's frightened expression turned into one of rage; she lunged at Tango and raked her claws across the cruel dragon's face, then hurled herself at the exit and scrambled up the burrow. She could hear Tango screaming after her, but the alchemist made no effort to chase her down. 'Why would she? She's gotten her use out of me; she doesn't need me for anything else,' Wisteria thought bitterly to herself, bounding across the open plain. Her wing was still tender and aching from when she twisted it before, and she knew it would be a while before she could fly again.

"Yes, but... There are beasts and monsters that may wish to harm you." Her mom's words came into her mind once again. Looking back on it now, she desperately wished she had heeded her mother's warning.

I applied Tertiary Gene: Scales to her.
