Chesed
"mercy"
Mortician & Guide
performs rites for the departing

Solemn, sincere, and compassionate for dragons both living and lost, Chesed takes to her job with great care and time. The clan sees to very little true death. She namely offers her services to those leave the clan to serve the Lightweaver eternally. Many are filled with fear before journeying to the great beyond. A few kind words and a well-meaning offering and incantation to their goddess are the standards for those to be exalted. Chesed calms the hearts and quiets the fears of the youngest hatchlings and most hardened dragons who need a bit of encouragement when faced with their own mortality.

Once a dragon's soul has left their body, Chesed can spend up to a day cleaning and preparing them for burial. She burns all sorts of incenses and coats them in wreaths and robes to make them presentable for the Lightweaver. She also collects some of the exalted's or deceased's prized possessions and burns them in offering. As a faithful dragon, she goes to great lengths to insure that the departed enter the afterlife gracefully and good standing.

She mourns for every life she sees exit this world. However, her life isn't all gloom and doom. Chesed is actually a cheerful sort when not consumed by her work. She and Izyebel get along quite famously; they have drawn out discussions of faith and commitment, and how best to spread general cheer and good tidings among their clan mates. Chesed also enjoys flowers a great deal. She and Menahem have bonded over floral arrangements as she orders many for funerals, but also for her personal lair. She keeps small buds and herbs in her pouch so that she may remember that from anywhere, at any time, life may spring anew.
