Zhyrine

Matriarch, Founder
The founder of the clan, Zhyrine was automatically appointed the role of leader, but she commits to her role well. As leader, she maintains the peace within the clan, does crucial decision making and handles clan politics.

"It has taken war for us to get here. What do I know of peace?"

Born with passion that rivals volcanoes in intensity, Zhyrine reigns as the beautiful and intelligent matriarch of the Lavaburst Clan. She'll do whatever it takes to keep her clan safe, even if it means putting her life on the line. The size of her body may be equal to that of a mouse, but she is stronger than a pride of the most ferocious of lions.

- Given her size as a Fae, she tries to lure opponents into a battleground where she holds advantage. As a final move, she usually delivers a bolt to the eyes or head.

- Zhyrine's eldest son, Elwood, died in an unsuccessful attack against a harpy leader, Talona. She refused to have children for a long period of time afterward.

- Zhyrine's mechanical wings are prosthetics made by Vanora, the resident engineer, so that she is able to fly. Her original wings were torn by Charcoal, the leader of the Scavenger Syndicate, and remain draped in silks.

- Zhyrine can be described as morally gray. She does whatever is best, even if what's best means that some dragons have to die.

- Askook, the clan second and Zhyrine's mate, believes that the weak are worth helping even if they hurt the chances of the Lavaburst Clan's chances of survival. Zhyrine greatly disagrees- the clan comes first.

- Zhyrine likes to endearingly refer to her mate, Askook, as "Kooky".

- When she's angry, fire begins to start at her feet. If it worsens, it can consume her body. She's an extremely powerful Fire magic user who has practiced diligently for years and years.

Origin Story

They said she was born with a fire in her chest: always burning, always bright. There was never a day when Zhyrine would give up or falter.

Zhyrine lived a happy childhood. Never knowing parents, her birthclan, the Roseburn, raised her. They taught her to be good, to be alert, and to always try do whatever is right. She listened to their lessons, but she always seemed to have a different definition of what is right. She'd always sneak off to practice magic and read tales of great heroes.

When she hit her teenager years, that's when her instincts kicked it. She was fiery, brave, and wild. She led her clanmates when battles rose and successful they would emerge at the end of them all. Wherever she saw wrongdoing, she took it down. One day, however, at a trading post something peculiar would happen...

Zhyrine was alone, chasing down a thief. With every step that Mirror took, she'd fire a calculated bolt of magic at him in return. When he sped into a cave system, she'd thought she lost him, but just moments later emerged a Tundra. He had golden fur and dazzling eyes. He told her his name was Askook.

After that, the two would see each other around the trading post a lot more often. Whenever they saw each other, they'd always stop and chat for a while. After that, they'd arrange meetups... then after that, dates. It was young, fiery love.

But Zhyrine's joy was shortlived. The Roseburn was attacked by raiders, who pillaged and killed many of her friends and family. They took all she had ever known and destroyed it. Panicked, she sought out Askook. She told him to pack up and hide, that the raiders were going to continue to destroy other settlements in the Ashfall Waste. He did as she said.

Zhyrine started a revolt with the surviving members of her clan. She inspired them to rise up and put an end to the raiders. They made ferocious and coordinated efforts for over a month with her as the leader, but they were quickly stamped out like a puny ember. Enranged, her remaining clanmates banished her for her failure.

She didn't know what to do besides seeking out Askook, so she searched everywhere she knew for a few days. That's when she saw him. Her love, all battered and beaten and bruised. Askook told her that the raiders got to his village. His parents and friends had all perished.

Zhyrine suggested something new. She proposed that she and Askook start a new life together, just the two of them. This would be the start of their clan.

Zhyrine's Magic
Having spent over a decade learning and perfecting her magic, Zhyrine is arguably the strongest fire magic user in the clan.

Protective Conjuring
Firewall - A wall of fire that absorbs other magic for a duration.
Queen's Shield - A shield that Zhyrine can conjure around herself or another Fire dragon that will absorb magic for a duration. In emergencies, it can be exploded in self defense.

Flame Tactics
Lucent Breath - Zhyrine breathes fire onto a target.
Fireball - A large, hard-to-avoid sphere of fire.
Radiant Beam - A concentrated beam of Fire magic.
Rapid Onslaught - A spreadshot of multiple fireballs.
Glory Raining - Small balls of Fire magic are fired that explode on impact.
The Great Claws - Zhyrine uses her ability to summon pyrokinetic constructs to conjure two large claws of fire that attack. Using large constructs for too long can leave her weak and unable to use her magic for a duration.
