This dragon was never meant to be born. His mother is a dragoness who fell in love with a mercenary. Their love was pure and true, but forbidden in every possible way. He was imprisoned for trying to assassinate the leader of the clan, but that didn’t stop the mercenary from befriending and eventually winning the love of a dragoness. She was blind, and some whisper that that was why she didn’t see his faults.

Those whispers are wrong. Nix loved Chaos because she was the only one who could truly see him. Their love was like the stars, invisible to all but the night’s eyes, or it was until Thanatos was born. He was their undoing. Although they loved him dearly, they couldn’t allow his existence to be known, for if it was, his mother would be convicted of treason.

Unable to allow his love to be doomed or his child to be persecuted, Chaos did what any father would. He ensured his son would remain a secret forever. As the child grew up, he was kept away from camp, with only three dragons knowing his location: his parents and one uncle who concealed him inside a cave. Thanatos was fed, watered, and loved until he was old enough to hunt for himself. It was then that his parents’ hearts were broken.

Chaos escourted his son to the clan border in the dead of night, and Thanatos was cast out to wander the world alone with only the memory of his father’s whispered words to guide him:
