B I O G R A P H Y

Though today his friends and clan mates know him as a mischief-loving and compassionate Guardian, Sykayhy's past is far from sunshine and laughter. Before meeting Dyesolshyed out in the Wandering Contagion, Sykahyhy had traveled from the far shore of The Shifting Expanse to escape a dark life of captivity.

He had not started life in this way. He was born into a clutch destined for the Flamecaller, for his his small clan in the Emberglow Hearth had a tradition of exalting some of their young earlier to gain the deity's blessings. They also believed this early start in a young dragon's life helped sponsor diligence and wisdom in the exalted. However, the clan did not know they had been duped into a terrible scheme of collecting young, healthy dragons for hard, physical labor in The Lightning Farm. Before his life even began, Sykayhy was carted far from his homeland in The Ashfall Waste and deep into the desolate heart of The Shifting Expanse.

It was not until he was in chains that Sykayhy and the others from his clan realized the truth of what had happened. There were young dragons here from all over Sornieth; the result of the scheme's expansive network across all eleven territories. Wasting no time at all, the pack of Mirrors that ran the operation put the new arrivals to work, and for the next eight years, it was all Sykayhy did. There were times he thought about rebellion, but when he learned the dragon in charge was a massive Imperial, he decided to keep these thoughts to himself, so as not to get any of the others in trouble. However, it did not stop him from hatching a plan of escape.

Using all his observations, the strength he had built over the years, and pure intensity of his will, Sykayhy managed to break out of his cell and flee the holding complex where hundreds of others were kept in chains. For weeks he kept running without rest, without stopping for food or water, until at last he reached the shore of an enormous body of water - The Sea of A Thousand Currents. There he collapsed and slept for days uncounted, before a passing Water dragon woke him and helped him regain his strength.

The Water dragon offered to take him across the Sea, as it was clear the Guardian had been fleeing something. Sykayhy accepted, but still could not bring himself to speak of his time in the strange work camp of The Shifting Expanse. And so, it was by fate that he encountered Dyesolshyed, lost and alone in the Wandering Contagion. Sykayhy, in that moment, realized something important - all this time, he had been denied a charge. So, without hesitation, he vowed to help and protect the Pearlcatcher, and the two have been inseparable ever since.
