I was born into what I hear was a beautiful day. I don't remember of course, but they say it was bright, and warm, and welcoming. My egg was buried in the marshes pf the Worldedge Wetlands, just a few inches below the water line, but enough. I must have broken through the top of the egg first, we all do. The water and mud would have started to flood me, and I couldn't have known what to do but to writhe and kick at the shell around me. I made a fuss, I'm sure because Spirit found me and jumped in after me. Only three days old himself, he pulled my egg out and shattered the rest away. His memory on the subject is fuzzy but he says that just after I was breathing steadily, he heard Kazu, Galen now ,mewling in the brush.

From there it was us. We grew, and built. Levie found us, and so did many others. Friends coming and going from a budding home. It was exciting, but also dangerous. the beastclans had easy pickings with ours as we were in our lairs on the ground. Those nesting with us would lose eggs in raids. And that, well it put certain thoughts in my head. Spirit had some idea who he had been born to, even if it hadn't lasted, but my egg and Galen's seemed to be alone. I spent quite some time wondering how we got there, and how truly, I would have died at the entry gate if not for sheer luck in Spirit.

Loli's resolve was fading. She was fighting for a lair she didn't even recognize. And suddenly there was a new feeling in the pit of her stomach: doubt. She doubted her purpose, but it was too late now. She sunk her teeth into Spirit's shoulder. He tore at her wings and eyes.
It was over quickly, with spirit hopelessly pinned down by Loli's more experienced claws. And she was about to end him, when a flash of black and blue dove in front of her.
Not so unexpectedly, it was Kazu who chose to intervene. His neck extended over Spirit's. Strangely, he wasn't defending Spirit as much as he was saving Loli.
years in battle together had made the two fae very close. Kazu knew that Loli had to win, but she didn't have to kill.
There was silence as Loli and Kazu looked at each other, and yet, anyone could tell that there was also indeed a conversation, and at the end of this silent conversation, Loli sat back, allowing both those underneath her to do the same.
"Fine.", she said flatly and without tone. And then she walked, with elegance, back into the woods.
There she stayed, without purpose, for several days before again she was visited.
