Death and plague go hand-in-hand. Plague serves as a shepherd for weakening souls, to guide their way to death's outstretched arms. And so, it is not uncommon for those born of the Plague itself to be well-acquainted with death's deeds.

But occasionally, one may get rebellious. Some seek to defy, and sometimes, they succeed.

Temporarily, anyway.

Skydancers seldom fair well in the Wasteland. They are spindly and fragile, generally unskilled with physical battle. Hillveinos in particular, with his shimmering belly and butterfly-patterned wings, was at risk. But having hatched near the Wyrmwound actually proved itself to be advantageous. His body was bolstered by the diseases that constantly tested its strength, and he seldom had to fight tooth and claw, as few drakes ever come far enough to see the Wyrmwound.

To live in this place was to rebel, and it turned out that the young skydancer was a rebellious one.

Predisposed to a knack for magic, Hillveinos began to toy with it, idly. Upon reaching adulthood, he lived alone in the Plaguelands for some time, locally becoming known as a formidable warlock. He felt empowered as he never had before, continuing to train in more and more brutal magics.

Soon, he discovered how to combat death itself.

It wasn't long after that he decided upon making the trek into Arcane territory, certain that the eccentric natives would swarm to him with endless treasures for a peek at his talents. The chaotic essences of Arcane lands also served as a boon for his magic, and for quite some time, he was a reclusive oracle who made a business of necromancy. Gold was all the company he found he needed.

Eventually things changed. A small bogsneak, mutated by disease, visited him, flanked by another bogsneak, hulking and littered with scars. The mutant offered him treasure like he'd never seen, so long as he assisted them. All that was needed to convince him was a sack of treasure tossed to the ground before his claws.
