Zalitz travels all over Sornieth, dragging his cart full of wares behind him and selling to whoever is interested. However, you should be careful when you visit his shop, because he gets most of his money through deception and conning. That diamond ring you "lost" could very well appear in his shop next week, or you could figure out that gene scroll you bought from him is just a piece of paper well after he's left. If you question him about his wares you may find out just why he carries that old cutlass around. He's very good at hiding and running though, so chances are you'll never see him again after he's scammed you. Of course, nobody in the clan knows this... For all they care, he's just a normal salesman. He's fine with giving a portion of his profits to the clan in return for a more permanent residence, at least for the moment.

Zalitz uses Dottie as a tool in his scamming and conning. She's very cute, so she'll go right up to potential customers and distract them while Zalitz grabs whatever they happened to have in their pocket or bag. Sometimes she'll even snatch something herself; if she does, Zalitz rewards her with an extra-good cut of meat that night.
