5KfK0se.png Arcus learned at a young age that his presence has a weird effect on Lightning magic, thanks to various machinery that was working perfectly well a minute ago blowing out when he would enter a room. Now of course sometimes that's useful- for example, when someone wants more power than the current storm is providing- but when when you can't CONTROL it and everything you get close to requires extra precautions built in just to make sure it doesn't explode or burn out, the whole thing becomes annoying instead of helpful. In fact it made him practically unemployable- nobody wants to allow a massive power surge liability into their machine shop.

Forced to look for a diferent job, he turned to power gathering. As a Fae he's especially well tuned into the currents of magic through the area, so he can help sense when and where the lightning storms are going to be strongest at any given time, and lots of dragons are happy to pay for his enchanted items and elixers- 'bottled lightning' in the most literal sense.

But since he doesn't hold employment with a specific tower, the best way for him to catch strikes is to fly up and snag them. Being so small, with big frills that catch gusts of wind and threaten to blow him all over the place in strong weather, he went looking for a stronger flyer he could hire to take him up there.

He thought it would be hard to find someone reckless enough to agree to such an arrangement. Until he found Anahira, who would, let's be honest, not only do it for free but would pay him for the opportunity if she had to.
