Invisible streams of magic run all over Sornieth, strange currents like ley-lines that Fae can tap into and Skydancers can sense, but that most other dragons aren't usually aware of.
Element Infused dragons have been so utterly steeped in those currents even while in their eggs that the flow of magic fills and washes over them, bleaching their colors white except for striking marks that match the element running through them.

- Abilities and details -
There are two types of Element Infused dragons- Stable, and Unstable.
Infused dragons with Stable magic can choose to temporarily lend their own magic power to others with a touch. For example, they could lay a hand on a warrior and choose to give that warrior their own magic strength for a day; until that day's worth of time runs out, the warrior would have the magic endurance and power of two dragons, while the Infused gifter would have absolutely zero ability to do magic at all.
The minimum amount of time a Stable Infused can lend their power is for one day; if they try to lend for a shorter time than that, the energy will not transfer. Some are strong enough to lend for longer periods, but three days is the maximum. No Infused can gift their power away for longer than three days at a time.
Stable dragons who practice and train themselves in enchanting can also attach their magic to objects. For example a Fire dragon could create a blade that burns with magic flame for one day, or a Light dragon could create a lantern that glows for a day without fuel.
Roughly 80% of Infused dragons have Stable powers.
They are slightly more likely to be Earth, Fire, Ice, Light, Nature, and Plague elements.

The second type, Unstable Infused dragons, are a stronger power source but are also risky to be around. An Infused dragon with Unstable powers is like a walking magic battery that anyone of the same element can borrow from at any time, as long as they're within a few yards of distance.
For example, a dragon who is usually so magically weak that they can hardly breathe the smallest puff of fire, if they're near an Unstable Infused from Fire flight, will find that they can suddenly breathe out massive gusts of flame. An Ice dragon that normally can't summon more than the smallest gust of chilly air will find that in the presence of an Unstable Infused they can call forth a terrifying blizzard.
This is a tricky thing for the Unstable Infused- on the one hand, they're very useful to their companions and clanmembers, but on the other hand they have no way to choose to keep their magic power to themselves. Other dragons around them, if they're of the same Flight/element, can use all their power up whether they like it or not, leaving them with no energy and possibly doing things the Infused dragon doesn't agree with.
Because Unstable Infused dragons are basically radiating a field of magic energy around themselves all the time, they can sometimes have a strange effect on their surroundings. For example, Lightning dragons might cause machinery to misbehave, Shadow dragons might attract spirit beings, and Water dragons might cause nearby sleeping clanmates to have strange dreams.
Roughly 20% of Infused dragons have Unstable powers.
They are slightly more likely to be Wind, Water, Lightning, Shadow, and Arcane elements.
- Genetics? -
A fun and optional extra! When I breed or sell Infused dragons, I use some math and a number generator (dice actually) to help decide whether a dragon is Stable or Unstable. A dragon's odds of being one or the other are affected by their Flight, their parents, when they were born, and a few other things.
The owner of an Infused dragon is always allowed to decide for themselves which power type their own dragon is and how strong they are, even if I have already written it into the dragon's bio. These genetics are an extra perk for people who enjoy breeding projects, but if you already have in mind what you want a dragon you own to be like, you are still free to make that decision for yourself!
If you get an Infused dragon from somewhere else, you can either choose their type for yourself or ask me to help you pick which one they should be. Just ping me in this thread with a link to your dragon and I'll be more than happy to calculate the odds for you if you'd like.
